2005 Evo GT 700 vs 2008 turbo

I have the Evo GT700 package on a 2001 turbo and it is about neck and neck with my friends 2008 turbo with just a chip. ie his 580 hp or so is just as quick as my older ~700 hp car.

does anyone have knowledge as to if I did a ~700 hp package on the 2008 turbo, will it feel a lot faster than the 2001 Gt 700 i have now?

thanks in advance!!

austin

Sounds like it could be one of three things.

1) The 2001/2005 EVOM700 is not putting out 700hp.

2) The 2008 997 TT is putting out close to or more than 700 hp. (unlikely)

3) The 2001/2005 EVOM700 is suffering from user error.

There is something wrong with your car. A GT700 will smoke a chipped and otherwise stock 997TT.

Could also be that you were running in a higher gear (or too high a gear) and thus not "on boost" with your BIG turbos and your friend was running the VGT smaller turbines which spooled faster. IE: You said "let's go on the freeway and we'll both be in the same gear, then honk at one another, and floor it, see who's faster" which works just fine except that maybe YOU hit peak boost at say, 4,500rpm's and maybe the chipped 997 hits peak boost @ 3,200rpm's. That'd be equal to a few car lengths.

I agree.
See how it's possible that Fiat Stilo 1.6 with 105 BHP outrun Lancer EVO 7 with 400 BHP

I have seen many different GT700's be at or above the 700 Crank hp#.
Again, it's either driver error or something is wrong with your particular car.

No way you should be the same speed as a chipped 997 TT. No way at all.
