c55 amg?

I've done some research on this car, and I'd like to hear some opinions about it...any owners/former owners? Are there any common problems with them? (for example, the 2000-2002 b5 audi s4's blow their stock K03 turbos all the time)

Thanks!

Not one single problem during my 3 years of ownership.
The low profile tires can be easy to damage just make sure u have Road Hazard insurance on them.
The suspension felt harsh when I first got the car. But u will get use to it
and start to enjoy it after a month. (but it is not as stiff as the 966 TT).
And it is very easy to drive "very" fast from 0- 90 mph. It is an excellent DD car. I like to drive it more in the city than my turbo. (but of coz it is very stealthy and u wont get too much looks).
Hope this help.

Its a great car and is very torquey, I can only comment about the SLK because I have one but I was so close in getting a C55.

11-14 mpg city for the B6 S4 doesn't look too appealing, haha...

Oh by the way, those AMG parts are expensive.
For example, if you ever damage the fog lights, you have to buy the whole housing unit. They cost around $350 each, I have changed 3 already.

Yes, the C55 is alot of fun to drive. For $30k +/- $3k in the used car market
nothing really come close. And those stock Evo 9 or subaru STI .... dont even want to come close to u.

Just bought one

So I just picked up one with 34k miles, its instead of a cooper s for wifey. The thing is smoking fast...4.9 secs 0-60, and it does it with 4 doors and a boot with nice comfort...

Great car, and a real sleeper.....I think it will be a future classic down the track some as not very many made it here....

Cheers

Get your self Green filters and remove the resonator for an x pipe, it will feel faster down low.

I loved mine. No problems, except a wheel sensor. Replaced under warranty. Loved every minute of ownership.

Recently bought mine. From what I can tell there are only a couple 'issues' with the cars. The seat heater in the butt part seems to have fairly regular failures. The back keeps heating but the butt doesn't. The turn signals in the rear view mirror housings can get condensation in them. The cup holder (in the 55 and *all* of the C's) is a POS design that Mercedes hasn't gotten right yet. Far more complex than it should be and always seems to be a problem, at least in my prior C's. Otherwise they don't have nearly the number of engine/drivetrain issues that the C32's had. The engine is pretty detuned for what it is capable of so it isn't stressed even at 362hp. Low production numbers for the U.S. (less than 500 for 2006) so it is a fairly rare breed. Very stealth. Few folks know what it is but those that do appreciate it. The thing gets far fewer stares/comments/etc from other folks which in my experience has its advantages. No one talks trash about how much $$$ you must have because you're driving a Porsche (even though I paid more for my 55 than my 996).

Fuel economy is entirely dependent on your right foot. Typically I have been getting about 22mpg with mixed city and highway driving. OTOH, I drove to work this morning in a bit more of a 'mood' and got 15.9... The torque is intoxicating and seems like it is on a rubber band when you get into it. Handles well and brakes great. Very much as fun as my 996 plus I have a real trunk and a mostly real back seat.
