Dealer says no '09 turbos

Has this been confirmed or am I being played here? I really would like to wait for an '09 and spec it out as I want it but the dealer says there will be no '09s and is pushing me towards a used one, which is really not what I want option-wise. He also says the turbo will be back in '10 as a turbo S with a 10-15% price increase. Anyone?

I would say your decision should be based on how bad you want the car. Are the possible changes worth the chance of not getting one, or paying more? Will the prices of the current 08's go up if Porsche come out and does not offer an 09?

I have been on these boards for a few months and have also had a deposit down on an 09 for a few months. When I saw the leaked information on Friday regarding the 09 911's & did not see the TT, I decided that it was not worth it FOR ME. I went out the next morning and grabbed the car off the lot that I wanted.

YES, I would rather have the 09. But the changes are really not that big. Are they worth another possible 20-30K? Trust me, once you have the car, it will not matter.

this is what I was told about 3 months ago. obviously may be wrong.

There may not be an 09 turbo and if there is it will be late in 09 and probably a turbo S - but not 100%. There will be a 2010 turbo though.

I didnt want to take the risk - so I opted for a late allocation (from another dealer coz my current one didnt have one) - 2008.

Yeah I think that is the way I will go...assuming I can find something close to what I would have picked out.

Are there any 2008 allocations left?

as of 1mth ago I found 2 in the PA area. I opted for one - because the dealer gave me a 3K off msrp at the time versus the other dealer who would not negotiate. Mine is a june build for july/aug delivery. It took me a while to find one though - but when I did I found two. I want to guess they are rare now though since its almost end of the 2008's.

I don't believe that, all indications point towards an '09

Can't you just see the suits at the factory laughing their asses off at our dithering on whether or not there'll be a '09 Turbo. "Let's jack the prices" I can hear them saying.

Well that's why I think it would be a bad idea for Porsche to drop the turbo for '09...they just got spanked by both the R8 and the GT-R and are hanging on by a thread over the Z06, all of which are much cheaper...seems like a bad time to bow out of the race and come back a year later with a 10-15% more expensive car. If anything, they need to fine tune the suspension, increase power, and drop the price. If they wait till late '09 there will be even more competitors.

It's what happens when CFO's run companies. All the magic is in the numbers rather than the product.

It seems that if a dealer has used 997 TT's on the lot, he says that there will be no 09' TT. If there are no used 997 TT's on the lot then they're taking deposits on 09' TT's.
