Next gen. Poll 998
Next gen. Poll 998
Hey everyone lets take a poll. Let's see what six speedrz would want the next gen 997 (998/991) to be. An 8 cylnder or a flat 6??? What would you want it to have??? NEXGEN 998
I would want mine to be a 998 flat 8 twin w/ around 600 h.p./p.s. would be good for me... 4now

It would also come stock with 345 25 21's in rear...

To see them start to shrink back down in size and weight. A curb of let say 2800lbs. Then have the power bump to 550hp.. Then I would say the 911 is heading in the right direction..

That would be very nice!
I would love to see it sized down slightly, but the odds of this are zero. So, have the next generation no larger than the 997...no more weight either, ideally less weight if possible. This means keep the wheels as 19's (do not go any larger..PLEASE), and any other ways to keep the weight down in the next generation, such as lighter seats etc.
I would also like to see the flat 6 kept, not that they would switch to an 8 cylinder anyways. If they keep the weight down, no need for much more power. Maybe focus on emmissions and fuel economy, and a retune of the current engine could provide a bit of power increase for the new model.

Why not make it wider, lighter and slightly longer to put the flat 8 in still room for rear seats. p.s. don't be upset if you start to see 21 inch wheels soon. It just might fill out nicely if the car is made wider/bigger. I don't think you will hear a lot of negativity about widening that fat ***...
It would also come stock with adjustable ride height hydrolics.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but, the green gestapo is going have us all in Smart cars with head spinning rapidity. Get your high powered, gas guzzling road toy before they're outlawed. What kind of power can the 911 produce when its required to make 35MPG? Remember I told you so!!

What he said.
The next 911 needs to be much lighter and smaller, akin to the original 911. Power should be a smaller displacement dry sump flat 6 turbocharged to 375-400hp. The heavy high horsepower days are coming to a close, we are currently in the last throws of the horsepower wars.

Is this a poll for the 998 series or just the TT?
How about streamlining the models? Have we ever had 15 different 911 models? Do we really need a Carrera, Carrera S, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S? Targa 4 and Targa 4S?

It wouldn't surprise me to see one of two new models...
1) a hybrid 911 as the new Carrera S, perhaps adding 40hp over the base model with the use of hybrid technology (and adding a BUNCH of torque over the base model -- one of the key advantages of electric motors). Perhaps even a 911 Turbo with the "X52" package being a Turbo with an extra 100-150hp of hybrid power (use of hybrid technology instead of "overboost" setting)...
2) a diesel 911... perhaps even a diesel CUP car variant, to piggyback off of the RS's success and the diesel technology that Porsche has in-house and that it will get from Audi as part of the Volkswagen acquisition...
