The wait has me missing my car so much
My car is in for the Evoms kit and it's been the first time I have been separated from my car for more than a week since I have owned it . The first few days were easy but gradually I began missing it. At first I just noticed the empty space in my garage but now I miss everything about it. The idea of getting it back with even better performance thrills me so much though. How can anyone ever sell this car?
In the meantime , all my 6speed posting has got my girlfriend all into these cars . At first we even bantered about a two Porsche household (997S for her) . It began as a tiptronic , then graduated to manual, then looked towards the facelift .
The lack of space became an issue .
That led us to look at this car and after much thought and multiple test drives I bought it ..... when I drove it home my girlfriend was so happy and these are our first moments with our new car .

Now we both have some fun cars which give us new choices in which to drive or even to drive both.

I am going through the same thing right now. My 997TT is at the shop getting upgrades (exhaust, ECU, plenum, pulley, wheels and some cosmetic stuff). I find myself day dreaming about how great it will be to get it back. Sometimes, it keeps me up at night like Christmas Eve! I have told the shop doing the upgrades to take their time. I just want them to do it right (no check engine lights!).
Mine has been gone for a week as well. I hope to get it back by the end of next week. If I would just stop adding on things to do (considering suspension system now) then they might finish more quickly!
Good luck to you.

Larry, here's a thread you might enjoy reading while you're waiting for your car.

Thanks guys .
Jason --reading your "vacation" thread was incredible and it actually was one of many influencing components at buying the M3 for her so that now we have two cars .
The idea of a group driving trip sounds fantastic.
I did spend enough money buying the 997tt, modifying, re modifying, and now adding the M3 to place me into a low gear of spending for awhile but she and i both see a vacation much like yours someday in your future.
I really enjoyed the photos .

The EVOMS 700 Hp kit . The only variation is that I will keep my current Tubi exhaust and Werks1 Intake . I'm not sure about the plenum
These are very different cars.
The car it directly faced off agaisnt in terms of my purchase decision was the 997S which draws a better comparison .
The M3 is more of a sophisticated muscle car and the 997S has more finess. The gadgets in the M3 are quite impressive though for those who like talking to the car and asking for a restauarnt .
The 997S is the better car
Beneath the M3 in price the 335 is a great value .Every car was up for evauation when shopping .
The deal maker was that space became an issue if we chose two Porsche 997 cars (mine 997tt, and hers 997S) . The M3 won on that factor.
The M3 is the right car for the person who is trying to fill the gap where debatably close to 997S performance comes with a rear seat for a few dollars less . For my girlfriend coming out of a four door Mercedes and who places 15K miles a year on a car driving to and from work , the M3 is a great transition vehicle .
It is also her first performance car .
I can compare the actual driving characteristics of the M3 if you wish . It is a very interesting car.

Do you mind sharing the specs of your new M3? My brother has a fully loaded 6 speed red M3 cabriolet on order for July delivery and he can't wait. It sounds like the M3 is the perfect companion to your Turbo.
Jason - The car has every option except cold weather package and double clutch . Notable options are the upgraded sound (must have), 19 inch wheels, and most imporant technology package (which offers a selection of sport settings ).
The engine sound is amazing .On idle it sounds wimpy but when the pedal pushed it roars like thunder . Straight line speed is quick and in corners it is very predictable . The interior is more spaciuos than previous M3 cars and its very comfortable ,
The biggest negative is that the manual gearbox is rather sloppy --having long throws ans awkward shift **** position . It's not a porsche box and it's not even as nice as my third car (Honda Civic Si 2007) .
The biggest pluses are the supportive seats , practical space, and great balance in its drive --offering performance with a splash of practical. We did need those things.
One feature my car does not have which I wanted but was unable to get was the carbon roof . The sunroof adds a little weight and the carbon looks real cool too but it came down to the roof vs the upgraded HD sound and the stereo won . I feel the sound system is the best I have heard in a car .
It came down to the wire agaisnt the 997S and had I not had my Turbo I would have bought the Porsche . I also feel that the 997S facelift will settle any doubts with the extra HP expected in the new car.
The decision was very tough .Overall the first days have been great.
I still miss my Turbo . I can't wait to see the upgrades on that car when I get it back .
These few days have been filled with balancing car decisions and we have been very pleased.
