A Depreciation Question
Depreciation On The '07-'08 Tt's
Hey guys,
I was just wondering what your thoughts were on the depreciation of the '07 - '08 once the 09's come out; now that there will be some changes to it.... Will the prices for the 07-08's drop at all and how much would u guestimate???
I was talking to a couple dealers here in Toronto, Canada and they're quoting me on 07' TT's (in White) approx $130,000-$135,000 Canadian with approx 3000-8000km, landed in from the states... Does that make sense??
Should I be waiting for the 09's to come out (depreciation-wise) to buy an '07 used???
I currently own an Alpine White BMW M5 and have had my eye on a white TT for a while now... I wouldnt mind spending 115-120K on one... Is that realistic if I wanted to get one in the fall?

New or used?? -- In the fall, after the 09's come out?? Bc im talking about an '07 or '08 in white with anywhere from 3000-8000km and it doesnt have to be fully loaded just have the chrono... and obviously has to be manual...
Are you asking about overall depriciation? If so just check out the price of a 2003 996tt - dropped like a rock - I had one. Great car w/ lot's of correct, reliable mods; did not matter ... as soon as a 997 tt (998?) comes out watch the drop ... justa fact of car life w/ newer models.
I think the majority of us bought our 997 TTs for the driving enjoyment and the depreciation of the car or cost per gallon of gas was the least important thing on our mind.
I just assume we are going to take a big hit the day we drive it off the showroom floor and that is a fact of life.
Whether gas is $2.00 or $10.00 a gallon will have no affect on my usage of this car or most others who bought this particular car.

I do not think you will see huge depreciation of the 2007-2008's when the 2009's arrive - not much has changed. You may see a slight hit if and when when the facelift arrives probably sometime in 2009. I do not think you will see a major drop until the 998's come out. Free advice is worth what you pay for it.

The longer you wait the more it depeciates on their lot (lol) but you won't have the car and that's the rub .
If the 09 cars have the di m97 engine instead of the good gt1 engine, then 07/8 cars will not loose much value. Common porsche, you're right there ain't nothin wrong with the wet sump m97, go for it!!!

Buying a Porsche is an emotional decision, not a business decision. I can guarantee you my thought process is completely different when I am at my Porsche dealer than when I am talking to my Kenworth rep.
I would imagine you have the money if you are considering the 997 turbo. If you have the money then do not worry how much it depreciates and just buy it and enjoy it. In the past I was worried about the depreciation but decided I would enjoy the car today and not worry about tomorrow.
