P2196 - Anyone? Anyone?

Does anyone know what this CEL code is? It came on out of the blue, no problems driving, reappears after battery reconnect.

Thanks gmoney...

This would be the second O2 sensor that my dealership would have to replace? Any reason what this would be happening?

Once with the stock exhaust, once with a FabSpeed. Dealer has threatened to charge me for this repair because the exhaust isn't stock...

The o2 sensor actually isn't that hard if you gotta do it yourself, just alot of scraped knuckles.

Maybe not too difficult to change but why are the O2 sensors failing would be what I'd want to know - I've never had one go bad on any car I've owned - US or foreign made with modified exhaust systems - maybe just lucky??

To answer this as best i can, it could be a bad fuel / air mixture, bad computer relaying the fuel air mixture or just bad gas multiple tiimes. Otherwise, it could be that the original o2 sensor is improperly calibrated for the mixture. Need to connect to computer and read the volume of fuel to air going through exhaust system and re manage that

gmoney...the previous O2 sensor was replaced by my dealer once before on my stock exhaust when it went bad. I'm pretty sure the same thing has happened again. I'm not sure if it is a fluke...no other warnings have gone off.

I'll give an update when it gets replaced later this week.

Have you had your ecu flashed? Just wondering for myself. I have an aftermarket exhaust and considering doing the flash.

madporsche85 is infamous around these parts
I know this thread is not alive but just wondering what caused the error code, P2196.
And bbywu, did you fix the problem? Did your dealer charge for it?

I got that code as well. I was doing HPDE2 at Lightning at NJMP yesterday. All I did before I bring my car to the track was change brake pads, bleed brake fluids, and change engine oil.
I hope it is not a major issue.

Mad, what mods do you have on the car?
Might consider clearing it with one of those 100$ hand held jobs from sears, that's what I use.
Usually emissions related, not serious.

I currently have AWE cats, AWE mufflers, EVOMS intake, and X51 headers.
Since I have only one error code, I suspect that one side of O2 sensor is bad. Or I suspect there is any leak from either cats or O2 sensors.
