Basalt Black exact color

Am I right to say that Basalt black has some brown under the direct sunlight? I wish there were some good pictures out there. Or better yet, black and a basalt black side by side.

You are correct. Basalt Black has spits of brown/gold that shine under direct sunlight. This color works beautifully with Sand Beige leather interior because they complement each other.

I guess it is all personal preference. I went down to the local dealership and saw both of them side by side. I like black. The color was so much richer and deeper compare to Basalt black.

I have regular black. When clean, it is deeper...much much deeper than Basalt. However, Basalt hides imperfections better - scratches, dust, prints, even chips.

When I bought my C2S, I was set on Basalt because I thought it would hide swirls better than black. When I saw it in the sun, I hated the brown in it and ended up getting black instead. I wish Basalt was more like BMW's carbon black.

I have Basalt and love it - especially the metallic in the sunshine - to each his own.

I metallic flake looks more gold to me. It is very suttle. I had a choice between the normal black and basalt and I personally thought the regular black seemed ordinary (if that ever should be said about our cars) as compared to the Basalt. My personal opinion is the Basalt looks better and that is what I chose. If we all liked the same color how boring would that be. You can not go wrong either way.

Think of Basalt as somewhat of a charcoal more than a metallic black.

IMO, it's much better than standard black which REALLY does get dirty quite fast, and swirls it hides not. If you can afford to keep the standard black clean in terms of time or money, it will look nice, but otherwise, go for basalt or another color.

The best is to see the color side by side. Then you will know which color u prefer.
