the EcoBoost TT V6 is supposed to replace V8s in the ford line. It might be also be available in the Mustang and even the F150.

Not a competitor at all. Just a quicker family or daily beater.
Ford did plan on making an awd turbo fusion though (delayed for right now however). That might meet the price range of an evo or sti.
Ford has come a long way with their cars though. Thumbs up for actually improving compared to GM or Chrysler cars.

its an 550 threat! the new taurus is a big car, with lots of tech! i believe a lot of people will be surprised by its luxury. which is the reason for the price hike. its going to be 40k just like the g8 gxp. my favorite is the key fob like the c6 vette. some of the others are listed below.
Reverse Camera System
Adaptive Cruise Control
Blind Spot Information System (BLIS™)
Cross Traffic Alert
Multi-Contour Seats with Active Motion
Voice-Activated Navigation System
that said this engine will be a monster once the turners get a hold of it. 500awhp in a 4000lb family cruiser is going to be sweet! in other words e55 territory. could the new sho be the next grand national???

Thats why the Evo/STi have such an amazing aftermarket following.
Car is also HUGE! An inch longer than a 7-series if I remember correctly. Glad to see Ford is building it, but would be more excited to see the motor in a new SVO Mustang. Focus RS AWD with this drivetrain would be the STI/EVO killer - but that will never happen.
