Best way to seal 3-piece BBS RS's?

Need some help on this.

I've already tried sealing the way most people say, which is bolting the wheels together dry, then running RTV on the outside matting surfaces of the lip, center, and barrel, but that didn't work as the wheels still leaked.

I also know, now, that RTV isn't strong enough to seal these wheels, and I'll need something with adhesive in it as well, but would like to get some different opinions on what is going to be the best way to seal these?

Thanks.

I'll take you up on that. I tried the same thing and to no avail, two weeks later almost flat.

Really it is not that big of a deal...we use a silicone machine that applies an even amount of silicone to seal the wheels, and our in house Technician has assembled and built so many wheels throughout the years that this is really second nature to him...not that big of a deal.

Again we are happy to help...customer service and satisfaction is first priority for us, even if it is not our product or brand, we are happy to try and help.

Call me at NUTEK (714) 921-5272 so we can discuss the details and shipping...it is very important that the wheels get properly packaged for shipping...I don't want any risk of shipping damage.

^^ Now that's what you call customer service!

Jim: How often do three piece wheels need to be resealed? Is this something that needs to be done frequently, or is it rare for wheels to come apart and leak?

Thanks!

In most cases you should never have to re-seal your wheels...unless the seal has been damaged. It is most common to have a seal get pinched or damaged during the mounting or tire replacement process...because most tires going on 3pc wheels are extremely low profile the side walls tend to be very difficult to wrap around the wheel and at times you need to use a tire bar to get them to drop...this is when most cases you see a seal get damaged.
Other than that it is rare to have to re-seal, or unless they are taken apart to be re-finished or repaired...in any case of removing the seal you need to clean the entire surface of the previous silicone and lay an even bead of new silicone...the next important part is to let the seal cure over a 8-12hr period in the open air at room temp...after the seal is cured you can mount or package the wheels as needed.

Because we have the experience and proper equipment to do this in house, it really is no big deal...we are glad to help, and I'm sure the next set wheels they go to buy hopefully we will be an option

Thank you again for the in depth explanation. It seems like this kind of job should be left to professionals.
