Qs997Turbo is infamous around these parts
Who Would Trade '07TT for an '09TT

Who here would trade in their '07TT for an '09TT if the dealer was willing to take $26K off the MSRP of the '09TT and offer you a reasonable trade in price?

Do the additional costs justify getting into a new turbo with a few additional features? Would you guys take this deal?

Depends on the actual difference.

What's a "reasonable" trade-in nowadays?

The only real difference is the radio/navigation system. It will perform the same way. If you want a new one wait until Fall with the direct injection and more power.

These are just estimates, but trade in for a 07 997TT is what, $75-80? Price of a new optioned 09 997TT $135-140? Minus discount, difference is $35-45K.

So...do you want to pay $35-45K for a touch screen, bluetooth navigation system?

No .
Main reasons :
1) Too many mods to uninstall and reinstall .
2) Current car is perfect . New one's reliability is not known .
3) Can't justify the expense without reward

I have three reliabile cars which I enjoy and see no reason to replace any at this time.

Agreed ,you can upgrade the stereo for 1k ,unless maybe you have very high miles or want to start fresh with a new color ,but it's gonna cost ya.

Plus they're not giving those types of discounts on 135k cars...The car ur looking at must be 150ish? And I wouldnt do it...40-45 k as someone said for a touch screen nav...pass on that, your car already took huge depreciation hit cant imagine its going to depreciate at near the rate of an 09

Kelly blue book shows $97K trade in for 07' tt in excellent shape with 25K miles. Where does this $75-80K come in for something in wretched shape??

KBB is never a reference guide. Its almost useless. Black Book gives a more realistic value... and dealerships look at wholesale costs anyhow. I am even surprised he could get $80k trade in value. You can't even sell retail an 07 TT with 25k for $97k. With that much miles you are looking at the $80k range (retail). A car with 25k in terms of wholesale value will be in the $70k range. Sorry... such is the market. Sad but true.

no offense, but you sound like a dealer tying to bad-mouth our tt value. Price always depends a lot where you buy/trade your tt and how you care for it. And too if the dealer wants you as a repeat customer. These turbos are holding their value a lot more than you're trying to insinuate.

My Atlanta dealer gives me KBB good condition trade in ($89K for my 07tt) each time I buy/trade with them every couple/three years, but I pay list for the new turbo or whatever Porsche I buy. I will probably pass on the '09 with the '10 supposedly having 50 more HP plus some other goodies.

I'd pretty much agree with this assessment, no point in upgrading at the moment with such a small benefit. The new turbo with direct injection etc will be great but for now it isn't out. I'd just wait and enjoy your current car.

Bro he's right on....5k mile-7k mile 2007TT generally bring 88kish.....8-11k miles like 85kish,.....25k miles on an 07 is worth mid 70's on the wholesale end, maybe less....I know these cars last for ever but, 25k miles on a 997TT is perceived as a ton of miles....

Now i listed the above wholesale prices but understand that those numbers are NOT what the dealer will ultimately have into the car....Shipping, conditioning of the car (tires, scrapes, dings) all have to be addressed plus auction fees...So by the time a dealer gets the car he may have anouther 1-2k into it maybe less is local auction and clean car, maybe more if needs more work and shipping long distance

***FYI, in December/January when no one was buying anything these same cars were doing 7-8k less at auction, they actually went up as did many cars****

Not a dealer. Just being honest about the car values. It sucks, but that's what it is. If you get a better deal, then more power to you. I am all for 997 Turbos holding their value better. Unfortunately its a buyers market with not so many buyers. Look at F430 prices, LP560-4 prices, LP640 prices, 599 GTB prices... and even more tellingly, the 430 Scuderia. It is what it is, whether we like it or not.
