Question Fanboys?

Why is it that a lot of euro-luxo-cruisers buyers think they can beat C6 LS3's and Z06's?

I'm a member of E90Post and get a lot of 335i owners thinking they can smoke C6's by 2-3 car lengths.

Is this with an engine swap, upgraded turbos, or simply delusion? I see nothing that would indicate that a 335i (tuned or not) would walk a C6 Vette.

A LS3 is a low 12, a LS7 is a mid to high 11. No stock 3 series is anywhere near that. Let them bench race and dream.

I watched stock C6s (08+) run 12.4s @ 116 all day without any hard launches. 335i owners may have big ego's due to the decent power they can put down.

Some modded 335's can beat stock C6's. Especially if the Corvette driver can't drive the car to its full potential. Several modded M3's can as well. So can stock M5's and M6's from a roll...as well as C63's and tons of E55's. There are plenty of euro-luxo-cruisers that are very fast.

To beat a stock Z06 with a proper driver; well, in most cases the euro-luxo-cruiser in question better be running a turbo, nitrous, or both...

...but ya, it can happen.

Well that's taking into account driver error, and mods.

Stock vs stock, and modded vs modded, it's not really a comparison, is it?

Read your first post. You asked if euro-luxo-cruisers could beat C6s or Z06s'. You also stated; "I see nothing that would indicate that a 335i (tuned or not) would walk a C6 Vette."

I just listed a bunch of cars (both stock modded) that will indeed walk a C6 'vette.

Now, if you want to know which stock only cars will beat a C6...an M5 or M6 will put a hurtin' on a C6 'vette from a roll. I would bet a E55 will beat a C6 as well....and a DCT M3 or a C63 would put up a very good fight.

Stock to stock against a Z06? None of them would have a chance.

Yeah but I was specifically talking about a 335i. Modded 335i's are running high 12's modded, and I've seen stock C6's get into the low 12's. I mean, the mods on the 335i would have to be numerous to beat a stock C6 (tune, tires, high octane race gas, exhaust, etc) and I still think it would be a pick-em.

As for the M5 or M6, those cars cost twice as much, and have almost 100HP on the C6. It's not really a fair comparison even given the weight difference.

Your post started with "Why is it that a lot of euro-luxo-cruisers"....I assumed you were asking about all euro, sedans and/or coupes. My mistake.

Wrt the 35 only, stock to stock with equal drivers a 335i won't touch a C6.

But modded 335's have hit 11.7s and 11.8s @ 117-120. They can be very fast.

You can get M5's in the $40s. And please don't use the price argument, it's what ricers use (i.e., SRT4 owner saying a C6 costs twice as much and has twice as much HP).

Also, M5's and M6s are IMO nicer cars overall than Corvettes, which is why they cost more. They may have 100 more HP but they also weigh 800 lbs more but are still very fast. There are other cars I would own before a M5 or M6 (AKA porsche) but they are great cars and deserve respect.

Is the SRT-4 really a ricer car?

The price argument is really a valid argument whether you believe it or not. Sure a Veyron would smoke a Z06 in a straight line, but price price price.

Nope, but a heck of lot of ricers drive them.
