You'll hear both answers: doesn't matter as long as the rest of the car suits you. Or, don't get it b/c resale will suffer.

Reality is if you don't care about resale, then it doesn't matter as you can get pretty much all the feature (aside from the ugly wart stopwatch) of SC from aftermarket tuners. If anyone tells you it doesn't affect resale, they're full of $hit b/c 99% of members here would never buy one without it.

 

That would depend on how much you care for resale value and if you are going to leave it stock/no mods.
If you are going to re-flash the car and don't really care about resale, then sport chrono is of no real importance performance wise.
The price of the car you found should reflect the missing Sport Chrono as they are less desirable.
The only provision is that I think Sport Chrono also enables some features in PCM 3.

 

Agree it affects the resale without SC. To order a car like this and pay the big $ and not get the extra hp function on a car like this makes no sense to me at all. Some may say it looks ugly on the dash but I usually hear that from those that bought their car from stock without it. Anyway each to his own and an ECU tune will eliminate the need for it in one way i guess but I wouldnt buy one without it but thats just me. Good luck with your decision and eitherway its a great car. .

 

you are not buying new so resale is not a issue since you would be getting a better price.. if you want to mod the car then go for it. the sport mode is not smooth on throttle response for a standing start throttle too snesitive

Agree +100% on that.
The hardest part of buying a car like this is always parting with that hard earned knowing you didnt quite wind up with what you really wanted. Ive found that you are always better off going that little extra to get what you really want (as much as it hurts). Its only when its a LOT extra that you start thinking of compromising....and even so...when you do....still winds up leaving you wanting over time.

 

If ordering new I would say 'big mistake'. when buying used I would not sweat it, flash it and dont look back.

 

I only use sport mode, it just takes some getting used to to be smooth from a standing start is all

 

SC mode is always better used in a low or zero traffic environment anyway as thats usually when you have the opportunity to stretch it out with that extra go. Using it in normal driving or traffic isnt the best for sure as everything is sharpened up and less relaxed. SC mode on standing start launches is great especially if you want to hammer it off the line on a run. You may just need more practice there . Anyway you get more features with SC other than the extra hp and sharper throttle so its a must have option imo. There is the PCM functions which are great.

 

i would keep lookin', there are plenty of good cars out there...sport chrono is a must on this car

 

$90k is still big money for any car
I would never spend that kind of money without getting exactly what I want
If price is the deciding factor find one with SC and no PCCB

 

As others have alluded to: if you plan to mod the car it does not matter. If you will keep the car stock keep searching...

 

if he is a fan of this site im guessing he is not going to keep the car stock... so what does it matter?? other than overboost why would anyone want the wart?? if you like the car buy it and get it flashed ...if you are gonna keep the car 100% stock then maybe it should effect your choice...

 

^^^ Exactly. Read this no sport button remorse?? Didn't see the need to have to push a button every time I wanted more power. Seems pretty gimicky.
