M to AMG
M to AMG
Hey guys, I'm currently in an e46M vert, in which I received about 3 months ago. (Yes, I'm already thinking about another car, I never keep cars very long) I was dying for an M up intil now, I got it and now it's been very fun to drive it, but these AMG's are growing on me. The sexy 6/4 piston brake-set up is one big plus for me (for some reason, I have no idea why) But the M department is severely lacking in this area with our lazy 1 piston set-up.
So basically, I'm curious as to what the AMG owners think of the M line?
And should I make the switch?
The cars I'm really looking at right now are the e55, and the c63.
Anyone with opinions on both cars reguarding anything, (especially maintenance vs the M please chime in) Thanks!

I understand your complaint, I always like the M cars but always ruled them out because of there seriously lame brakes. I am more than impressed with the AMG brakes, they are almost to much on the street.
That's not the point, sure I can do that. But why should I?
It's an M vehicle, made to perform. Why not give brakes to handle it?
Any comments on general issues with AMG's?

I recently bough a 2010 E63 after owning several Porsches and M cars. I am crazy about the E63. It has wonderful torque the handling is great. I think the transmission is more fun than the SMG. I did a lot of research about the cars.Go to the Mercedes forums and get their vibe.
I came close to buying a CLK63 black series, but it wasn't a practical choice for a DD. Test drive a few and make up your mind.

Aside from the lack of rear seating, why?
The seating was an issue, I thought about the miles and the depreciation. I saw a huge difference in the price for low to high miles. I felt I was going to put a fair amount of miles on the car, and if i ever wanted to sell it, I would take a huge bath. Don't get me wrong, I love the CLK63 BS. It is such a great looking car. My E63 is not as aggressive, but I leased it and feel comfortable with the deal. I also like the luxury options on my current AMG that weren't available on the CLK BS.
M's may be lacking in the braking department but I've always felt AMG's are lacking in the wheel and tire department. The wheels look great but they need wider meat on the back to handle the power. In my opinion, BMW has that right.
I had a e46 M vert in phoenix yellow which I sold and later leased a E55 AMG for 27months and these are my thoughts after all said and done. For a everyday daily driver hands down the E55is the better car. Its a extremely fast dd and still sporty and reliable and back seats. As for as driving fun goes hands down the M3 vert without a doubt. The sound of the e46 M3 with exhaust is music to my ears and love the looks over the E55. If I could do it over again I would have kept the M3 and just put more money into it and driven the **** out of it ! Not sure if that helped but all said and done I miss the M and dont really miss the AMG. Im young and will get more M's and AMG's but I truly was excited and loved that car !

I would agree with that statement, that is why backed off and just leased a E63. However, I did test drive the C63, the interior was quite different.

This did help acutally, I've been hearing that the tires really are an issue and cannot handle the torque these cars put down. (New tires very often)
I really need to get out and test an AMG out.
Just curious, how old are you? I noticed you said you were young, I'am as well.
