Exclamation '08 GT2 DME report...no good?

I heard in the past that anything in range 3-4+ voids factory warranty. Is that true? I dont really care since the plan is to mod it to 750-800whp, but should I be concerned about the internals, and these overrevs?

Thinking of passing on the car... However, it can be had for $15k-$20k less than any other similar mileage/options '08 GT2 out there right now...

Based on this, no worries especially if you don't care about warranty issues and are planning on modding. This is really nothing. How many miles?

Do you believe that Porsche engines need to be "broken in?" If so, this car has signs of early abuse. If not, then this car is fine.

The ECU reads 0.2 seconds in range 3, which occurs from an errant downshift. It also had a single errant downshift at 50.8 hours. This would suggest that the owner did not follow break in procedures (unless he was driving an average of 39 mph...unlikely)...and rev'd beyond the 4200 suggested limit early in the engine's life. The over revs recorded @97.1 and 94.5 hours suggests that the owner did this repeatedly during the "break in period." Granted, not every believes in the break in theory.

How many programming operations were listed? This will tell you if there has been an ECU reprogramming (either Porsche factory authorized or aftermarket.)

Bob, Do you think 39 mph average is too fast or slow?

I came up with 39 mph based on the assumption that the over rev occurred at the end of a 2000 mile break in. Hard to say without the actual odometer reading.

I may have assumed wrong - would be good to know what the odometer reading says.

Yeah, I know. To me, that average does not seem unreasonable and if was higher then the previous owner may have followed break in procedure. I guess for me, those overrevs don't bother me in exchange for the $10-15K discount.

How many miles on it? If you can get it for 20k less for similar miles to other GT2s out there, I say go for it. You may be able to squeeze them even further if you play the DME card right, hehe. Again, no big deal considering the major mods you're planning.

Thanks for the input guys. My concern was, range 3 are overrevs in the 7200-7400 rpm and range 4 are overrevs in the 7400-7900 rpm range... (The red-line is 6800 rpm, no?) I wondered is those overrevs could have actually caused damage or weaken anything....

Here is the chart I was provided with the DME report:

According to the report, did it have 72 overrevs at range 3 and 2 at range 4? Or am I reading it wrong?

I break-in my cars hard, and from what I know, GT1 motors are still hot dyno'ed at the factory, unlike the new A91 motors. So I dont mind if the car was broken in hard...

This particular car has 5K miles...

I plan on modding everything, except rebuild the engine.

Thanks.

Since the car appears to have been modded by the previous owner, I would be more concerned about knowing the history than the overrevs. Get a PPI and leak down test. The 72 in range 3 and 2 in range 4 corresponds to ~0.2s and ~5.5 millisec max time spent in each range, respectively. To me, that wouldn't be a deal breaker.
