So...my Dad bought this car recently. It was part of an estate sale, but he got it from a dealer friend of his. This car was driven by none-other than PAUL NEWMAN...

and then this past weekend I drove it at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, IL (We are members there)

All I can say is this car is STOUT! The braking ability is superior to any car I have ever driven track or street. The motor is brand new with 2hrs on it. Apparently these motors cost tens of thousands of dollars to be rebuilt by Porsche motorsports.

Apparently this car has a storied history. I am going to compile that as well and post it ASAP. It has had some of the best drivers in the country behind the wheel. Paul Newman drove it for the last time when he was 75yrs old at Petite Lemans I believe....

Very cool. Paul Newman has been around Porsches for longer than some of us have been alive.

 

To me, Paul was more of a legend off-screen than on. His movies were great for sure, but his contribution to motorsports is unquestionable. He drove until his 80's and he'll always be a hero for geezers like me.

An outstanding acquisition, BTW.

Here's a pic of Paul Newman's Daytona Prototye at the the 24hr. I believe this was in 2004 or 05, a couple of years before the movie "Cars" came out. The car number was Paul's age.
