Greetings & Base price Turbo S in Holland

Just wanted to say hi from Europe and point out how lucky all you guys are!
I've been checking the forum daily now for a few months, as I'm considering a second hand Turbo (S) in the next 2 years. I live in Belgium at the moment, but might move back to Holland in the same time period. With the current exchange rate €<>$, a base price is the following in Holland for:

Turbo: 277.227,72$
Turbo S: 315.716,08$

Aren't those some crazy prices for the same product a few 1000 miles across the Atlantic? Reason why I'll let someone else take the big hit initially and will try to pick up a PDK for a bit less than the numbers above .
Belgium has better prices with a base price for a Turbo of 214.631,15$, but you'll have to pay a initial owner ship tax once of about 7000$. If I drive it for 6 months over here, I can classify it as moving goods and take it tax free to Holland . Otherwise you pay roughly the same due to the import tax the government charges...

Big thumbs up for the quality of posts on the board regarding tuning, maintenance and especially the road trip/owner review posts. Those really push me towards a Turbo more and more!

Mathys

Noticed that when I was visiting.
I have an 07tt, and was amazed how much more they cost there.
I'm in Canada, our new prices are still quite abit more than in the US.
But for used I think more and more, are buying from the US.

So you save $50,000 if you buy in Belgium and just hang around 6 months, before moving? Thats not change.

With a 2-year old the difference will be less, but still very much noticeable. So I think that will be the plan: buy an used one asap, drive it and move if needed .

A new no option Turbo S will cost you Aud$465,000 on road in Australia. That is US$453,000 or €327,000 at current exchange rates.

For what they cost in the US I could buy 2 with change. But they will be quite rare here for obvious reasons so even second hand ones will fetch a premium when they come on the market.

Mine is due for delivery Jan/Feb 2011 and the (only) dealer in West Australia says it be the first in State. I'm aware of one in South Australia.

Sounds cheap when compared to Greece's base price for a new 997.2tt manual with absolutely no extras for 365,000$!!! (not S)

Hey gerbs my dealer told me just a few months back they did a deal for a turbo s for 440 drive away......same price as an optioned non s. Deals are out there if you push it. Not that I'm saying 440 isn't up there when you compare what other countries pay for the same car. Your dead right about being able to buy two of these and have change......it's outrageous how much we (have to) pay.

So I take you are talking usd? I thought these cars were a lot cheaper in Greece? Benzes must be cheap though. I see they are common taxis over your way.....a bit like how it is in Germany.

I'm Belgian and left that country when I was 29. Somehow, because I was more succesful and ambitious than the ones surrounding me, I was supposed to pay for their healthcare and salaries, even for the ones who didn't want to work. This all translates in tax upon tax and all kinds of other legalized extortion. That's how these poor people end up with such expensive pricing for their cars. Do mind, it's not Porsche who runs with the money, it's the government. The situation is even worse in Denmark, where the base price ex Taxes on a car is actually one of the lowest in the world. Add the taxes, and you get to close to highest !

On top of that, despite the snowball in taxes, the Belgians haven't even had a government in the past 3 years, that's how much their polical parties quarrel. Nice example of a social welfare state !

Every 2 years I'll go back and visit the family, but after 2 days I get the itch to go back to the US. Enough said.

I could be wrong, but I thought the over inflated prices else where are caused by their own country's tariffs and not by different prices set by Porsche.

Unfortunately no room to manouvere here for a deal as there is only the one Porsche dealer in WA. I did toy with the idea of trying the East Coast where there are six dealers that I'm aware of and obviously more competition.

You are right. In Oz we have Luxury Car Tax (LCT) which is 33% plus we also have Goods and Services Tax (GST) and that is 10%. And musn't forget Importy Duty which is in the region of 5 to 10%. So all up an additional 48 - 53% tax. Ouch

Gerbs You forgot the stamp duty when the car is registered or resold and ownership is transfered.....yep, another slug to the pocket .
In NSW for eg you pay 1350.00 SD for the first $45K and any amount over that gets another 5 percent appied. So in the case of a new tt.2 of around say 420K without onroads then the stamps (in NSW) would be another $20,100.00....plus the rego costs and green slip etc. Im sure its the same in WA. They dont miss anything over here and if youve got anything that even slightly resemples money the Govt wants a big piece of it off you.

Sorry to tell you that (440K for the new S).And yes only one dealer in WA makes for a bad situation but i'd still flex that purchasing muscle. They sure have been making you wait a hell of a long time so maybe its time to turn the tables . Demand a decent discount or threaten to pull out. Your deposit shouldnt be any more than 5k....so id try it.
