Worlds Fastest Mercedes (Texas Mile Octobers Run)
This car ran 198 mph in March but wind conditions in Octobers T/M were not ideal.

I'm curious about this, too.
198mph doesn't seem that fast for cars that come with a twin turbo V12 stock (Mercedes in general).

For the OP, your signature says it has the 1100 hp kit. I assume that is engine hp, what did it make at the wheels?
You will get your 200 with a little better wind direction. Tell your tuner to up the boost a few lbs. too.

PS we talked in the staging area (see my signature for the car I drove at the Mile and the Benz I have).
If you're a hardcore enthusiast and want to break a record, pick up a MB. So many records to beat with that car, pretty sure the best 1/4 time is a 10.55 and best trap is a 132.
But the c63 is the new big competitor and I see it doing big things for the MB scene
It is in a mile from a standing start. Every car there is still accelerating at the end - this isn't Bonneville.

But given what I've learned about MB, in person at a drag strip, second hand, as well as internet rumors - that the torque in those TT's is explosive, and if boosted a little, can turn insane numbers. Change the tires, and I'd expect the results to be a little more dominant. But for an all time record of an entire manufacturer to not ever exceed 200mph in the standing mile?
I guess that is the part that surprises me...
Anybody ever try to do it in a Brabus? (I haven't, I'm just curious)

I know that some cars are bouncing off of the rev-limiter at the mile. But yes, I agree - as a rule, it isn't the top speed.
?
Compared to what? Veyron has four turbos and did 201.
Good meeting u.
I have an MB?
The 1/4 you are referring to was by an s65 with a one-off NOS setup. Mine has clocked over 130 with only 60% of max boost. More to come...
Brabus only has 800 at the crank. That equates to approx 175-180 in the mile in a 4700+ lbs car. Which is what 800 hp MBs actually do in the mile.
My Bentley has a 12 cylinder twin turbo engine and only did 154.8 at the Mile. It all comes down to power and weight.

Oh, I don't disagree... And I'll even add that aerodynamics, traction, and gearing will all affect that as well.

It appears I have a lot to learn about this car. Clearly, I assumed too much.
*edit: not to take anything away from this accomplishment - 198 is hauling a$$.

True... Very true. I guess I just have a lot of respect for the platform, and had higher expectations from a formidable engine package. I did too, but I kind'a thought that was the intention... Come across seriously, but also with childlike disbelief.
Wonderful platform, but very very green owners.
