TT TT! (Two Tone Twin Turbo)

I attached the hardtop (and winter boots!) for the upcoming weather. I bought the top used(996), and decided to try it as a two tone look instead of painting it for $1000 bucks. I think it's kinda cool, but I know you guys will either love it or hate it.

As for me, I'm ready for winter. I've always been a little different anyway...

wow, 1K to paint it, I would drop it off at Maaco with your color code and pay $150.

Doc,

The 996 top does in fact fit. The recent 997's didn't come with female recievers for the rear latches on these tops however, so you'll need to get them installed, and they're not cheap...$600+ for the pair I think. Plus, there are two different latches, so you need the top first so you can install the correct latches on the car. Used tops are fairly well available, and reasonable.

As for Maaco, Dave, to paint it right you need to pull the glass etc. Not a simple job. I'm just gonna leave it.

Dunno if I'm a fan of the two tone, kinda reminds me of AUDI R8 color schemes with their contrasting blade. But whatever floats your boat my friend... who cares what anybody else thinks!

It looks just like the black soft top. Why paint it?

Put a red and yellow stripe on it and it will be the German flag In all reality, that is a crazy price for painting it.

What about wrapping it? How much would that be? I am sure it would be much cheaper than 1k...
Having said that, it does look like the soft top so its not that shocking at first glance. Imagine if the top was yellow or silver!!!

I don't think it looks bad at all. If it had been anything but black you would have a problem. Save the bux and leave it as is.

not feeling the two tone thing...the suggestion above about wrapping it is worth looking into

but what matters is whether you like it or not, that is the only opinion that counts

...and for you CAB owners out there...the road noise is dramatically reduced if not completely gone. Boy, the radio never sounded so good!
Drawback? The rubber weatherstripping does squeak a bit, but on the other hand, could the car actually feel tighter with less body flex, or is it my imagination?
