2012 Corvette Centennial Edition Announced

The Centennial Edition Corvettes are exclusively done in the new Carbon Flash Metallic exterior with satin-black graphics and unique Centennial Satin Black Wheels with red brake calipers. Red accents are throughout the inside and outside of the car. All the Centennial Corvettes will be available with Magnetic Selective Ride Control.

A special “100-Years” graphic showing Louis Chevrolet behind a steering wheel are located on the B-Pillars, the center caps of the wheels and the center of the steering wheel. The graphics are designed to blend with the car The Seats are also embossed with the centennial logo as well. A Small “100″ replaces the fleur-de-lis symbol on the Corvette’s crossed flags logo.

Inside you’ll find an ebony leather wrapped dash and doors with complimentary red stitching. Suede accents used first on the 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon are also found on the Centennial’s seats, steering wheel, shifter and armrests.

The RPO for the Centennial package is ZLC. Pricing will be released early this summer prior to production.

I am thinking so, its interesting though that I am actually liking this interior. I hope the C7 starts off nicer on the inside, and my dream would be a dual clutch gearbox or at least an automatic with a wet clutch in the vein of the AMG Speedshift transmission.

Quote of the year!

Why don't they? This would move them forward in the market. I heard a rumor that Chevy was going to address the criticisms about the interior on their models in the upcoming C7.

Too little too late for the C6. Seats and wheels look good. I'm ready for some C7 test mules.

Yes that is the rumor, about 90% of this interior sans the stitching and the suede has been available since 2008. If you have noticed a lot of the tests no longer talk about the whole interior as they once did, now its mainly about the crap seats.

Also one thing to keep in mind a base Vette is a $45k car, so of course it should not or will not have the interior of a 911 or even the GTR which start a significant amount higher. They simply can't put a 911 level or even M3 level interior in a $45k car. So that is why the upgraded leather interior is optional.

The benefits of a manual transmission (feeling) trump the benefits of a twin clutch system IMO. Driving a twin clutch car is like driving in a video game- if I wanted to drive a dual clutch car, I would play a video game. Plus, it takes ALL!!!! the fun out of driving, too!

A manual would be optional for those that like to go slower but feel manlier about it than those going faster!

It is good they have an automatic option, it allows the fat, lazy and handicapped to join in on the fun. Corvette, the all inclusive sports car.
