Meteor Gray TT ? Rare? + Price check
Meteor Gray TT ? Rare? + Price check
Looking to step up to a 2011 TT Cab PDK, Found one for 158k and it's been on the lot for 6 months. Dealer took 3k off and said that because Meteor Gray/Blkwhich is the "hottest color" now, they wouldn't discount anymore. I said so that's why it's been here for 6 months in the hieght of Cab season? What have people been seeing as far as pricing for the same?
My question is it a desirable color?..and they have a white with Blk interior that I can't get out of my mind...white, am I crazy? Thinking soccer mom color.
Thanks Guys.

I cant tell you how the market is for current 997 Turbos but when the car was introduced in 2007 few people got discounts. I was able to build one for $5000k off MSRP. The model has been out now for awhile and its comming close to the end of its run. It would seem to me that $5k off MSRP (or more) would be a starting point as a minimum discount on a standard turbo. If the car has been sitting on the lot for 6 months the market for it is soft. Seems to me that "the Hottest Color" isn't doing so well. If the dealer doesn't sell it, it costs him $$ to keep it on the lot. 6 months is a long time for a car costing that much to sit on a lot.
As far as Meteor Gray/Black being the "hottest color combo" and "rare" is just total BS. The hottest color combo is the one YOU like best. That statement also applies to Silver/Black, White /Black, Red/Black and Black/Black. These colors are commonly ordered and the best color is the color YOU like the best. Sounds to me like White would be a better choice from what you posted above.
I don't know how hard set you are on Cabs but at that price you are knocking on the door of a New Turbo S coupe. In that price range with a preference for PDK an "S" is the way to go. A cab will set you back another $10k but to me the extra $$ will be well spent. Tell the dealer to take a hike.

I think the same about white but for some reason it looks great on the Turbo. Plus it looks cleaner, you see every scratch in a darker color. On the other hand meteor grey looks really nice.
my dealer will knock off 10K off an ordered TT without even any negoiation on my part. I was looking a 2009 so I passed. Net, 3K off for one already on the lot seems have a bit more to go.
in canada the 2011 turbo's were getting a $3k credit back to the dealor - sounds to me like they are not really discounting it at all.
meteor on black cab does look good. i think these turbo's really do well with the dark colours. captures the agression behind the curves.

there is just no way they would use that expression on whatever colour is on the floor?

ANY color is "the hottest" when the car is burning a hole in the dealership's wallet. (har!)
That being said, I'm a BIG fan of Meteor Gray. The black interior just underscores that. It's all in what YOU want, though.

I think white is probably the hottest color on a turbo right now. Porsche Roslyn has a very well equipped 2012 tt white on black with a lot of the best options, plus they are making very few 2012 turbos.
I can pm you some details if interested.

I have to admit I was impressed with Meteor Gray, but it has been sitting since Jan, probably due to price? In 8 weeks that car will sit on the lot in the Northeast all winter, a year older but none the wiser
I love the meteor color. I have the matching wheels and overall look is awesome. The color always looks good in all light conditions from very sunny when the metallic really shines to at night. Never looks washed out like some of the other grays. Carrera Red leather with meteor really cool.
Cream color also very nice. This is our other one.
