Getting my first Turbo soon and need to get insurance. The company I've been happily using for home/auto since 1995 will not touch this car due to the power and top speed. Curious what the others on this board are paying.

Check out Geico. With a few discounts and a clean driving record my TT only costs me around $110 a month with full coverage.

100/300/100? State Farm gave me a similar quote, but for poor coverage. 100/300/100 would have been 150/mo

I use amica. Have a couple cars and a home with them. Paying $1000 per year for 2011 Turbo S Cab. We made one claim from our home owners with them and they are fantastic. Definitely recommend!!!

I've had State Farm for 25 years, including my 4 Pcars. Not the cheapest in the world, but always good service, almost switched to USAA earlier this year (father is retired Col. for qualification), and they would have been better annual price for same coverage.

My GTS is 250/500/100 @ $1050. But that includes a ton of discounts as I have multiple cars, multiple drivers, multiple properties and umbrella policy. I think it's difficult to compare prices due to variations in these things, not to mention driving history and claim history.

Here I was quoted $760/6mo. What am I doing wrong. I need to get with your agents. I'm nearly 40yo with perfect driving record and credit. This makes no sense. The quote for the Turbo alone was 127/mo and 248/mo if I throw in the 335 and Jetta for a multi car discount

The TT is one of 3 cars insured with USAA so I'm sure that has something to do with the pricing - I've been with them for 40 years.

The difference is likely the Turbo vs my C4s. If you want, I can use my online calculator to see what my cost would be for the turbo. Let me know.

I'm not in TX, but...

I was on the phone all day with insurance companies. With the added complexity that I relocated from NJ to CA and don't have a permanent addresss here, financing/personal info connected to my NJ house, a few companies didn't even want to touch it.

E-surance doesn't touch cars with original MSRPs over $75K.
A few others didn't touch cars with original MSRPs over $100K and $120K
A few wanted $5000-5500 for 6 months
One raised the rate $800 for a parking ticket because of "how strict CA is"

I eventually found Hartford/Answer Financial (sister company of E-surance, who will insure higher end cars) with a quote of $1100 for 6 months. Not bad. I have 1 moving violation from 2005 that brings up the price a few hundred. Sigh.

~$190 a month aint bad, I can deal with it. The dealer needed proof of insurance before I can even take delivery.

For reference, the car I'm insuring is a CPO 997.1 Turbo coupe w/33K miles. My prior car (08 M3), insured in NJ through 21st Century insurance cost $1400 for 6 months. Once I get things settled, I'm going to be moving my M3 and my parents car's policy's over to mine in CA. Hopefully I'll get some additional discounts.

Thanks for all the info guys. It looks like I'll have a bit more time to look around for insurance. The car I was buying is at a very well known performance shop on consignment. A deal was made, a deposit sent and accepted and a plane ticket purchased..... then the owner has a change of heart yesterday and pulls the deal???

So I ask for my deposit back over email and get a phone call at 2pm today, he would like to sell the car afterall. FORGET IT!!! The last week has been a high pressure sales struggle with a mix of serious unprofessionalism anyway.... nice car, but I'm walking. Dead of winter is here, the new model year approaches (all the used cars a year "older") and there seem to be plenty out there I like.
