997 Turbo Vivid Racing Softronic Tune Review

Hi Guys,

I got a lot of information on this site that was very helpful in my decision (and excitement) about getting the Softronic Tune for my 997 Turbo Tiptronic, so I wanted to offer a post purchase opinion and validation of what I expected and what I got.

First....The process is very easy. I purchased online from Dan and Vivid Racing and the cable arrived very quickly. Got email confirmation and downloaded the flash client and got after it! Once I uploaded the Stock
File I received the Tuned File the very next morning..I was impressed!

I had a few minor issues mostly related to an issue with my car and the laptop, but Dan and Scott (at Softronic) were very helpful and quick to respond. I ended up upgrading my plugs to Denso Iridium IK22 (cooler plugs) adding an intake (BMC F1) and Schnell Performance Headers and Two new VarioCam Valve Actuators (as I was getting a Bank 2 error and while you are near the plugs may as well change it!).

The car runs GREAT now. It is an awesome tune. While I was headed back from the dealership after plug install, etc...Going about 80+ MPH....Person behind me was bugging me so I hit the gas, and all four wheels broke loose and was doing over 110 MPH in what seemed to be only 1-2 seconds. The car is scary fast now! I cannot believe how much different it runs with the tune.

The installation is easy and straight forward. Because of an issue I had, I ended up flashing back an forth a few times and it takes just a few minutes.

The car maintains normal behavior when you drive like you should...But when you get into it at all it is a beast. The boost comes on instantly and the boost gauge pegs out and stays as long as you can stand it. It feels like the HP doubled (I know it did not...Just Butt Dyno assessment). Took my wife for a test drive to assess if the money I just spent actually made a difference....A few hard pushes on the throttle and she said to bring her home, because she was getting sick! And she is no wimp...She and I just finished P90X and then Insanity together ....But she could not handle this bad boy....

I highly recommend the tune! Had to buy a chisel to try and get the grin off of my face.

Thanks Dan and Scott....Great product and service!

Please note...Just offering this review as my opinion..Not looking to start a war on which flash is better etc.. Get the one you like and do the mods you like...This is simply my assessment of what I consider to be a great product and great service! Hope it helps someone on the fence! In about a year, my wife may let me buy something else for my car

Hi there....

Don't have one here, but check out the link below to their site. There are customer reviews for the Cayman S that may be useful? Looks like a boost from 295 HP to 315 HP... Good luck.

MJ, any reason why you had to change your plugs as well? And yes nice right up. Very helpful for those undecided.

Not sure on MJ....But as I indicated, I changed them at the recommendation of the tuner. Changed to 1 Heat Range Cooler Iridium to handle the additional boost/power. Potential CEL between 3000-5000 RPM with stock plugs (especially if you have ~20-30K miles on car). Hope that helps...

I installed the flash and on the first test drive had a miss at high RPM,s. I talked to Dan @ Vivid and he explained that my stock plugs with 23 K on them could keep up with the flash. Installed a colder set and Amazing no issues since....
