Will the 991 turbo go 200mph?

The current turbo claims196 mph and the turbo s claims198mph. Do you think the 991 triple turbo will break 200 mph based on how the 991s has performed?

They are running out of options so to speak. There is only 199 and 200 available before being over 200. I am going to vote it will definitely go above 200

Didn't Jeremy Clarkson hit 202 in a 997.1... thought you just need enough room?

This vid showed tht it reached 200.

If Porsche underestimates the top speeds, then seems that 200 for the 991 is almost a sure thing.

And given that the 997 GT2 had a "top speed" of 204, I'd say it's as good as done.

My bet is the 991tt will send the current offerings packing as was the case before with 996tt and, before that again. But guys whether 991tt is claimed by Porsche to break 200 is kind of a moot point really. I mean how many places are there on the planet where you can push 200 without winding up in the clink in the process?

For me the real question here is just how much more urge will the new 991tt have in real world everyday driving over the current 997tts? After all it's more about in gear acceleration and zero to 60mph these days that gives a car the edge over the next (in the bar stool bragging stakes that is)....putting aside the handling which I'm quite sure the 991tt will also hold a superior edge again anyway. But let's all face up to the reality that it will trounce the current 997tts ok. And looking at Nissan's latest claims of their new GTR doing the 100kph in 2.8...well 991tt is bound to to up that a notch or two if for nothing else other than to keep the nissan at bay. Triple turbos..hmm..it's looking like sayonara 997tts. Something tells me the value of our cars is dropping by the day...

It is interesting to watch the GT-R and Turbo S developments. Performance is close but price is far apart.

Nissan over estimates Porsche under estimates. However the price of the car will most likely keep the 997 value high

Keep in mind many manufacturers underrate top speed. Porsche is no exception.
The Bentley CGT is a good example. 198 mph claimed, 206 top speed GPS approved by Evo magazine (IIRC). Shoot they did 199 in a GTC with the top down and 204 with it up and that's a heavier car

Even without GPS I still believe a 997.1 or newer will go 200 based on what I saw there. Seems like he hit 200 indicted like it was nothing

Good points. But it is not a moot point if it will go 200 if that is a plus to the purchaser. How often are people launching 0-60 times. Both are performance specs and both are boasting points for sure but having a factory car that crosses 200 is definitely special. People have spent oodles of money to make their car hit 200. Texas Mile would be a great place to let the car stretch it's legs.

It will be interesting to see how the first 991 turbo performs against the 991tts. It might be closer than we would guess.
