Talking What is market price on a 2012 Turbo S?

Hello everyone. I'm currently in the market for a 2012 Turbo S and would like to know what price I should expect to pay relative to MSRP. Please let me know what price others are paying(relative to MSRP) for cars that are in stock as well as cars that are custom ordered. I would most likely custom order one since there are sooooo many options available on these cars. Finding a Turbo S that is already built similar to my ideal specs is very unlikely.

Thanks in advance and if there is any other advise or recommendations you have for a potential NEW Porsche owner please let me know!

Perhaps I was just a total sucker, but the dealership I bought my new Turbo S from a few days ago had just one on the lot, and seemed to be in no rush to sell it. Therefore I paid MSRP for the car.

It may depend on where you live--if there are enough folks with deep pockets who can swoop in on a whim to take the car at MSRP, I'd imagine they aren't interested in discounting. That's what I believed to be the situation at Hoehn Porsche in Carlsbad.

It's all about dealership dependency.
Why it pays to purchase cars out of state.

There are great discounts out there. I'd recommend trying truecar.com or other similar services as a starting point.

Unless my dealership lied to me, custom orders have not been possible for some time now. Production of the 997 is completely finished, and there are quite few new Turbo S's remaining for sale.

I'd completely forgotten about TrueCar. Example for my area indicating there are only token savings to be had (~2%):

http://www.truecar.com/prices-new/po...2012/2B046EAF/

I suspect that since production has stopped, most dealerships will prefer to hold onto the car to get close to MSRP for the simple fact that a Turbo model of the 991 is not due for at LEAST a year, probably longer...and some rich person is likely to stride into the dealership and say "THAT ONE!" sometime before then. Indeed, dealerships also transfer cars all the time, so it only takes a handful of people in the country who know they want a Turbo S to exhaust the remaining supply of the car even if they don't live near one.

I nabbed one of the last remaining changeable allocations here in Northern California back when I ordered my car in September with an October build date (ended up completing production in December). I don't think there were a whole lot more left after then, and I had to search through a few dealerships before I could find one.

I suspect there's going to be a reasonable amount of residual demand for the Turbo S since it's now an out-of-production model with no 991 version expected for at least 4 years.

Very interesting. The dealership i've been speaking with told me that production of the Turbo S will stop in May and that there is still time left, but not much, to place an order for a Turbo S built to my specs. Hmm...
