Which Would You Choose?
Hi everyone,
I have only owned one Porsche a while ago (83 944) but Iam thinking of choosing 1 of these 4 listed below as I also might pick up a 2011 ZR1 or 2013 Viper.
I need the experts here to tell me what they would buy and why. I will probably NOT be tracking the car. I also picked cars that were man. 6-spd.
Please let the comments fly good and bad. Kevin
2008 GT2 1.8K miles yellow..145K
2008 GT3 RS 2.2K miles Black/orange..125K
2007 GT3 RS 11 miles!!!
Orange..127K
2007 997 TT RS 2.3K miles Paint to sample RS orange..105K
ALL are ask prices/Low mile RS scares me as to problems from sitting. The 2008 is at my Ferrari dealer and is mint but price is high???

All great cars. Why not test drive some and see? Since are all equiped with fortified GT1 block i dont think they may have serious issues. A friend of mine bought a 05 997s with 9k miles, working fine. However check carefully for every oil or coolant leak no matter how low mileage
What are you planning to use the car for? DD, weekend cruises, garage queen?
Knowing what you expect from your cars and how often you will be driving it will help everyone with properly recommending the car that will suit you best!
Love the recommendation of test driving them all and seeing what you feel most comftorable with!

Also, consider the delta when thinking about two cars in that list for the same purpose.
Sure, that GT2 might be better of the bat, but it's a lot more expensive and for that money you could get a Switzer P800 package for example. Food for thought.
Also, a GT3 RS while it can beat a GT2 as a track car, depending on what you want, you can improve the GT2 up to Veyron levels of power, but you can't do the same with the GT3 RS as easily as you can with the GT2.
But if you want the best handling the GT3 RS will be the best car, even if you make others handle the best that they can, with a bit more modifications you're gonna kill them with the GT3 RS.
Lots of options, I'm playing with words, but you should know what you want by now.
You might want to read other people's threads on the matter.

You can get a 2010 GT3RS for not much more than the '07/'08s. Also some 07/'08s for less $.

997 actually launched in the US in 07. I would go with the GT2 as you stated you weren't looking to track it. Still raw and awesomely powerful and quite mod friendly.

Do you need AWD? The turbo has tons of torque and with AWD you can drive it year round in Utah; the GT cars have way better resale and value to them.. but you can always rely on your trusty turbo!

Given that your intended use is road and NOT track, out of this bunch i would select the TT (assuming it's not a GT2 TTRS)? as it's the better car suited for general road type use.
Although that said, orange may be a little out there for most (well for me anyway)....and possibly why it may not have sold? So if orange is your bag you may well get a really good deal on it. I dont think it sitting around would be diabolically catastrophic either. These cars are very resilient as you know. Perhaps widen your search to included a line up of late model TT's?

First off, I would not even consider a (997.1 gt3) pre 2010 model gt3rs. Not because they are no good, but the 997.2 gt3rs is so much better without the cost being so much higher.
The GT2 is great also and I agree with what others are saying, but you really have to drive a GT2 and a newer model gt3rs to see which suits you better.
For example you can add 90hp/tq to a gt2 for less then $7k. And for another $4k you can have a much better suspension and handle better than a 3rs. There are also many ways you can lighten the weight of your gt2, wheels, braille battery, polycarbon rear window and cf.

bad ideas
If you are not tracking these cars then why get them? These cars will beat the devil out of you relative to something like a C4S.
The clutch in the GT2 will wear you out in traffic, etc. which is why you see them with such low miles as the Dr. who ponied up 200 large for it in the first place has no idea what he was getting into. A 997 turbo cab is a terrific street car but a C4s is a lot more user friendly. That is the area In which I would be looking.

Iam still waiting on the sale of my 599 but have leveled it down to either car..I like the colors of each so thats not a factor,lol....Which of the two cars below will be the easier car to drive fast?
Like I said before I have only owned 1 Porsche,a 944 ,so I have no experiance. Are the manual gearbox(s) in these cars clunky as I do not want a Tip.? I will not be city driving so heavy clutch is not a big problem.I was thinking the GT2 might be more of a handful because of RWD but I like the fact it can be modded ok with bolt ons. Is the 997TT a more stable platform and a better car handling wise.?
Why should I not get either car if I dont intend to track it? Iam trying to stay in a certain price range(upto 135K so I can get another car too like a ZR1,used). Thanks for the advise so far.Kevin
