Best year 997tt to mod
Best year 997tt to mod
I'm up to bat next to buy a car : ) Here's what I'm looking at. 997tt yay! Now I'm going through cars.com to find one. Have seen 2007's, 08's,09's that I'm interested in.
I do plan on doing the switzer P680 package. I'm trying to put together a pros and cons list. My initial thought was to get a 2009 that had some warranty left and then mod it.
But as I slept on it, I wondered what the disadvantages would be on buying a 2007 or 2008 using the cost difference towards switzer mods. Besides the obvious out of warranty issue and miles, what would I miss out on compared to the 2009?
Please any and all, give me your input. Thanks in advance!

There was a post made few months ago that Porsche did make few 997 TT's some time in mid production run that are lot more mod friendlier then others.
Finding that production run with out the vin numbers is pretty hard but the hunt is on by the 6 speeders though
Btw there's a plenty of info on this particular topic, just do a lil search...
If you can't find info on that production run, then the second option would be to buy an '07 and spend the money modding the xucx out of it as they all have the GT1 engines

My research said the 2007s had best value, but the 2009s had the new PCM/interior changes all-the-while maintaining the fantastic power-plant.
If I were to heavily mod one, I'd probably find a higher mileage 2007 and worry less about depreciation as compared to the 2009s. But for just flash/exhaust style mods it probably only matters how much you like the rather minor interior changes / warranty.

great tips
Thanks for the replies so far. Makes me lean more towards the 07.
Any good tuners that are recommended in the Tampa bay area? I like what I've seen from switzer but would love to have some local support.

Dont rush it... Read, search and make up your mind over time. First find your car... and spend time on the boards, read as much as you can. There is tons of info here.
The search is almost as good as ownership so enjoy it.

i did the same research looking for a cab, and just purchased an 08. the 08 was at least 15k less than 09, cpo with 2 years left on warranty, and on its way for full engine mod without opening it AND retaining warranty.

Damn Damn Damn. Analysis paralysis again..
I'm going to the next Cars and Coffee to see if I can get a side by side comparison of the different years. I have a horrible tendency to over think things. Most of the time it works out. But Damn it, I've hit my midlife so I need to get moving!
Thanks for everyone for chiming in. Neil, I'll be in touch : )

What's a "full engine mod" that allows warranty to be retained?
