shipping my car to Los Angeles where do drop off!!!

I am finally finalizing my road trip on the west coast. I am shipping my beloved 997 turbo cab to the Los Angeles area and the tuck is picking it up from my home in NY this week! I only have one issue I have no place to have it dropped off. Since the shipping company does not have an exact time of delivery I was hoping to have the car dropped at a dealer over there and I would take a cab to where my car was straight from L.A.X. I am flying in on May 20th and the shipping company needs a destination address. Does anyone have an idea? The trucking company does not have a lot or terminal so that is not an option. Should I call porsche dealers in the area and see if they could hold my turbo on the lot of a day or a few hours?

Plenty of dealers in the area. I recommend those in West LA. Not Porsche BH, or downtown, etc.

U can either email the head of Porsche center, or call direct. They will have to ask for some info about you, your car...and possibly nominal credit/deposit fee in lieu of taking car in their service/parking area/lot !

Enjoy your drive in LA!

You can deliver it to my bldg if you want not an auto shop just a bldg i own where i keep my cars & run my business see pics in my albums gallery, but i'm 50 miles east of LAX in Upland so not sure it would help unless you took a shuttle or you flew into Ontario airport 5 mins from my shop, just a thought.

^^^ Ontario airport is 100x better to deal with then LAX. Not to mention the traffic getting out of LAX blows.

Wow thank you so much for that offer. This forum rocks! That is too far from LAX for me though. I am gonna try and speak to some dealers or porsche shops. But thanks anyway

If you are still looking for help in LA to receive your car, I recommend Walters Porsche in Riverside... ask for Tim Churchill. I'm from Oh and bought my new TTS from them last year. They shipped it to Tucson, where I was staying at the time. Tim made the trip to assure everything went smoothly, and it did. Great service, very considerate and helpful about caring for P cars. He might be able to help you out. walters.porschedealer.com Have a great drive on the coast.

I know you're from Ohio so you might not have a real good grasp on the geography here on SoCal, Riverside is about 45 min to an hour away from LAX, worse with traffic (which there always seems to be ). So while they might have been a good dealer to work with for a purchase or service, he's just picking up his car and wont need that, so convenience is probably his main concern. But that's a great plug for Walters and I'm sure they appreciate it!

To the original poster, again, I'm sure you could care less what their reputation is for their service dept or their sales tactics, you're just looking for convenience, so these are the two closest dealers to LAX. Depending where your hotel (if staying in one) is, one or the other will suit you fine assuming they are willing to receive a non-customer car.

Pacific Porsche is about 7-10 miles South of LAX
2900 Pacific Coast Highway
Torrance, California 90505
424-271-3822

Beverly Hills Porsche is about 7-10 Miles North of LAX
8425 Wilshire Blvd.
Beverly Hills, California 90211
310-557-2472

McKenna Porsche is also an option and of the 3 dealers is probably the best as far as service goes, reputation and they've always got some really nice eye candy in the show room ( I'm talking cars here, not salesmen ) They're probably about 20-25 miles in the wrong direction of anything, but they are the most likely to provide a service like this if the other two wont.

10830 Firestone Boulevard
Norwalk, California 90650
877-850-0065

Hope that helps!

If you really want to have fun, have it delivered to GMG (forum sponsor) let them do something fun to it, then take a shuttle to their shop, let them show you some The amazing race cars, customer cars and the beautiful shop they run and then drive away with a huge smile and onto the rest of your destination
