Thanks to Dan and Scott for Softronic Upgrade

This is a post that I placed on another board that I thought would be appropriate for this site. I recently finished my Spring detail, included with it a Carbon Fiber Rottec rear diffuser and door handles. I also upgraded my ECU with the Softronic soft ware done by Scott Slausen himself, which has made my car even more enjoyable and exhilarating to drive. With the exhaust upgrades and new billet diverter valves that I installed Scott says that I'm close to 600 HP. Not verified with a dyno but I'll take his word and experience for it. My acceleration is faster and smoother than stock with a tempo that dictates the true excellence of Porsche driving. The reason I had Scott of Softronic due my upgrade was that my laptop's new I-core processor wasn't compatible with the soft ware program. He started with a base 997 TTS program and enhanced the performance qualities from there. I felt I was in good hands, especially when I saw all of the other ECU's sitting on his work bench that were sent to him from various places to fix and reprogram. Where others had gone wrong with their programming, Scott was there to make things right again. So I was left with my car that quickly became my new "Black Mamba". Stealthy, mean, and athletic in all respects. So far the car has driven flawlessly, and is just amazing. Could there be an issue down the road. Yes, but I felt confident with Scott's skill and competence. Again it was very fortunate that I live only 25 minutes from Softronic.

And lastly why the upgrade? Not to go faster. Remember anything can go fast. Instead it was for the improvement in "quality of performance", where Porsche had left room within their own DNA that Scott was able to gene splice a new TTRex per se and create for me my new "Black Mamba". I'll keep you posted if anything should arise, but for now it's been pure Turbo driving.

PS. I have to give a special thanks to Dan of Vivid Racing who helped me coordinate my appointment with Scott when my lap top wasn't able to upload my ECU program. Vivid Racing was a great company to work with. Dan would e-mail each day to make sure that I had my appointment and that everything would work out in the end. And it did.

And yes as you can see a tree did fall through our fence. Thank God my baby wasn't outside when this happened. Take care and enjoy the Spring and Summer driving.

Jay, that was a good write up. If you could post up a video with some WOT flyby's that would be great. Not many vids of the Europipe in action.

Congrats, your car looks great, I have the same Rottec rear diffuser and a Softronic tune. You can't go wrong and the customer service as you mentioned is superb.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the compliments guys. One last note. After having the tune for about a month I thought the ECU had adapted enough with the new program to test out the MPG. With the tune in sport mode I got 16mpg around town, 18-20mpg on the highway depending on how I drove. Without sport mode I got 18mpg around town, and yes 24mpg in 7th gear on the highway cruising between 75 mph and 80 mph. Not bad.
The DFI and PDK really helped in this case. I don't know the values a manual would get in these same circumstances. But maybe someone here on the board could contribute some relevant information.

Jay, your car and mine are nearly twin...

I had the EP installed last Saturday and it's by far the BEST sounding exhaust I've had. Do the Fabspeed headers help in both the performance/sound departments? Do you plan on getting their CF CAI as well? I had their CF CAI on my 997.1TT and it made a different in hearing the turbos spooled up.

Im thinking of going EVOM this time for the ECU tune, I had Softtronic on my 997.1TT, I was very happy with the Softtronic tune last time but I wanted to go a different route this time due to more aggressive programming.

With the tune, the headers help more with the sound and exhaust note than with any added performance. Compared to the gains obtained with the ECU upgrade any added HP gained from the headers would be insignificant. If you want to do any upgrade that you will notice with the exhaust note and performance, change the stock divert valves. The factory set is very pedestrian compared to what you can acquire on the open market. This was the least expensive mod that I did for my TT that gave me the best return for my investment.

Thanks for the response Jay, I'll upgrade to EVOM BRV when it's time to do an ECU upgrade. Would the IPD Plenum & Ypipe upgrade be a better choice than the Fabspeed headers?

Just an FYI, but the VTG turbos in the face lifted 997.2TTs do not use BRVs - they use diverter valves similar to the 996TT. Something to keep in mind so you order the right parts.

do you have any recommendation for a good brand diverter valves? Is turbo removal required to install these valves are is it a normal thing to do when doing a turbo back exhaust? Thanks

VF DV's is a good option
No need to remove turbos to install them because the ( DV's ) located on intake pipes.

Check out the Champion Diverter Valves. Very well made and give you the extra performance that you're looking for.
