Hey folks,

I'm looking at picking up a 997TT and was wondering if I should avoid any 2007 models with it being the first year of production. Are there any known issues that I should be aware of? From what I've read/researched, the 997TTs have been pretty rock solid. Your input is appreciated. Thanks!

You can't go wrong with '07-'09. They are all equally solid.

 

Have an 07, there were some minor recalls, but aside from that rock solid. The recall information can be gotten from Carfax.

 

Thanks... I looked up the carfax on the car I was looking at and didn't see any mention of recalls

I am going by memory here, the recalls on my car were:

1) Rear brakes (given the VIN they either change pads and rotors or just rotors - mine only required rotors - the dealer wouldn't/couldn't explain what the potential issue was)
2) The blow off valve had to be oiled (and I believe it needs to be oiled on a regular interval as dirt gets on the rod that moves and it could make it stick)
3) The drains in the battery compartments (in the cowl) had to be cleaned as they get clogged and water could enter the cabin in a downpour or if going through a car wash

There was one other minor one, but I can't remember it now. If you have a VIN, the dealer should be able to run all recalls/service updates and etc. that should have been done vs. what actually was done.

Piggy back, I am also looking at 2007/08's, this is helpful!

I am working a dealer on an '07 6-spd 28k miles, sport chrono, nav, back up sensors, regular brakes, they are asking $79,995, I was thinking more like $74k, anyone want to give their $.02 or experience? car is NOT @ Porsche dealer & not CPO (but it is my first and hard to find color choice! on east coast!)

 

its not the blow off valve, rather the VGT actuator.

 

non CPO 2007 with 28k would probably fall into half MSRP pricing, probably much lower than 80k anyways. Dare I say high 60's even.

 

Thank Gmoney, that will help me stand my ground more when getting to meat & potatoes of the deal, it's personal car of dealer owner (non Porsche dealer), so he prob owns it in the 60's

Pfff.... I wish that were the case!!! Actually I dont know what they are truly selling for; although, none of the cars ive been looking at over the last 6 months are even selling. But these idiot freakin dealers still want mid to high 80's for cars that have 20-40k miles. Just a couple of examples....
