Extended warranty good buy on '07 turbo

Reading threads, looks like '07's do best with warranty. My '07 has 50K miles. Warranty co will extend extended full-warranty for 2 more years or 75K miles for $4000. Good buy? Strange drivers buy warranties thinking mechanical breakdowns an/will happen whereas ins folks bet on the opposite. Last warr-fix was the slave with accompanying parts which I guess is another "will happen" with these turbo 6-speeds.

My 07 with 41K miles just expired this month (had Porsche CPO).

Based on my ownership experience and general feeling coming from everything I've read online and from what I know from other veteran Porsche owners, I don't plan on getting an aftermarket warranty.

If it was 2K it would be worth it, but 4K for just 2 years is a bit much. It's all a gamble but I think the odds are in my favor. Going to try having a little faith in the brand. Only time will tell *knock on wood*

I feel the same way. Most of the major bugs should be gone. And $4K will pay for a clutch which in time most likelly will be toast.

I wouldn't do it for $4k/2yr either, but I just got Fidelity Platinum Plan 6yr/60k with $0 deductible for $2700. That was a no brainer for me since I will get all my money back on one clutch slave alone. My car is '08 with 8xxx miles, so obviously the mileage will affect the price greatly.

When my turbo was new, EasyCare was $3300 for 6yr/100000 miles which included tire coverage. You're correct on the slave/accumulator....just got fixed for $1800 minus my $200 deductible. After factory warranty expired had to get new starter, tire pressure sensors (batteries go at 50000K cost ~$1K), mass air sensor(water in engine via vents) and the slave. May check with Fidelity; can you post or PM phone #, could not find it amidst garbage on the internet.

Could you please send me the info also. I posted on here a couple weeks ago about whether no not to get an extended warranty for my recent acquisition of a 2004 TT Cab. At $2,700 I might be more inclined.

His price was low 'coz it was probably still under factory warranty not to mention the 8000 mileage.

Last oct, I paid $3400 for Fidelity warranty (5/60,000)for my '07 TT with 17,000 miles.

I would say, in your case, it would probably be in excess of $4500...

My car was actually a month out of factory warranty, I had to get a multi-point inspection from a Porsche dealership(no big deal). But the low mileage was main factor on the low price.

I'll PM you the info Jeff, but please keep in mind you'll probably be quoted a considerably higher price.

I know this is ancient history. But in 2006 I bought 6 year 60K total mile easycare warranty for $1800 on my 2002 X50. It covered the car till 2012 and paid for nothing major but it easily paid for itself with all the usual usual issues: clutch hydraulics, MAF, ignition switch broke, they even bought factory fresh wing hydraulics twice. Don't forget labor, etc... I'm betting you can shop for a much better, longer warranty if your car is still under some kind of warranty. I recommend easycare if it makes $ sense.

And yes, I think most people will pay an extra couple grand knowing their used car purchase is warrantied.

JUST checked, Fidelity doesn't extend warranty on turbos that have come out of factory warranty, but EasyCare still does.
