I have no idea where the right place to put this thread is, but I post mostly in the P-car sections so this was appropriate enough I thought. 6speedonline is used mostly by the Porsche Community and certainly the marque that made 6Speed what it is today, so why were we shunned when they made the new banner? They did choose nice cars, but I have to say, every single time I look at it, I'm a bit disappointed and frankly a little offended that they didn't choose to honor the marque that made it a successful site to begin with, kind of a slap in the face saying "we don't need you anymore". I could be reading into it wrong though. I know Porsche is VERY protective about it's likeness and I suppose it is possible that IB was afraid of being sued for using a Porsche in the banner. I'd like to know the real story though....Ok end of rant. Am I the only one?

 

i absolutely agree.
I do wonder however if we are taken for granted, and the objective is to attract more users from the Aston, Lambo and rarris...
What bothers me from an artistic perspective is that the lambo form the old batch is a lot more clean than the new 458 and Aston, which seem fuzzier.

It should be Porsche, GTR, and Lambo since there always finishing in the top 3 from most of the competitions. There are other nice cars but this is a performance site not a show site and those 3 are the top imo.

 

Exactly. The Porsche's were removed from the banner in late 2008, IIRC.

 

It's not just 6speed - check out teamspeed and L4P. Porsche won't allow it.

The best that we can do is post up owner's photos of actual cars.

I agree. The thing I notice about the new banner is the poor quality of the photoshop or whatever was done. The 458 looks blurry and some of the parts are chopped off. The Aston seems to be in the same boat. Instead of just throwing two more cars on, you should have considered redoing the whole banner. Or at least done a proper job updating it.

 

Too bad. A Porsche in the banner would be awesome.

 

Bob, thanks for explaining it. I know Porsche is very protective of their likeness. But wow they need to lighten up a bit. I can understand them not allowing the use of their name in a forum's name, or a close up pic of the Porsche Crest. But not allowing a picture of their car in a banner that just shows it's a forum about cars, well that's going a bit overboard. Maybe under the new management (Volkswagen) they'll allow it, afterall they haven't said anything about your Lambo and it's the same mother company now. Maybe you should use a picture of a Ruf, since they're technically a separate manufacturer. Ahhhh...maybe I'm onto something there I'm sure Ruf would love the free advertising. Ok, it's settled, a pic of a Ruf RT12 or their upcoming 991 based car, yep those will do just fine hahhaa

Well if those cars remain as is why not at least make it a red 458, white Aston, and blue LP640.....American flag colors would be nice
