2002 Lambo Murcielago for sale 170K

The car is owned by an old man in Hawaii who is very ill and needs to sell. He can no longer drive. The problem is it needs some TLC. It has been parked outside since purchased and needs a serious detail/paint. Car has 12k miles. Also needs new wheels and some minor body work due to curbing.

For questions call Dave Hayashi @ 808-224-5160.

There are few pics in the Lambo section. I do know this guy and he is a sweet old man. He lived on his boat, that's why no garage. He babied it on the road but did not service it very often. He is in his late 80s and never beat on it. He can no longer walk and just wants to get rid of it. I have the Gallardo coming or I would do it myself. PM me if you want my number and I can explain in more detail or just call Dave Hayashi. He goes by Dave@EFI on this forum.

Couldn't imagine leaving a car like that just sitting in a parking lot. You would think it would be covered or something. But then again, kudos to any 80 year old that owns and drives a Murcie!

The car was covered most of the time, however even then, being parked in the sun and exposed to the elements can wreak havoc on the car. I will clean it up as much as possible before we decide to move the car out. Here is a quote from my post in the Lamborghini forum

Thanks for fielding all the questions Bill. Guys, I will be getting the service recirds this week from the owner. He has driven teh car extremely gently...I don't think he's EVER had it to even 80mph. All the times I've ridden with him, he's consistently shifted to 6th right from 1st.

There is a left bank bach engine light coming on, the SRS Airbag light is also illuminated, the interior leather needs professional cleaning, the passenger side mirror has up/down function, but lacks side/side function, the center consol ashtray is broken, the rear passenger side tail light housing has a leak that allows condensation build-up, there are superficial scratches around the lower extremities as Bill mentioned, and cracks in the driver side rocker panel/running board, the front clip is scuffed, and the driver side rear bumper needs some adjustment from a past low speed impact.

I have washed, clayed, and buffed the paint before applying Adam's Polishes to the finish. The paint has cleaned up very well and it shows the quality that is latent in the finish from the factory. I have begun cleaning the interior up, and will get to work on engine detail following that. If I keep the car long enough, I will be taking it in for servicing and fluid replacement, as well as tire/wheel replacement, however that will increase the end price obviously.

Anyone with questions is encouraged to call me on my cell at (808) 224-5160. This is a great car for the enthusiast doesn't mind throwing some work at the car.

Aloha, Dave

hmm, an intriguing car. I would assume whomever buys this is going to need a serious discount. Could end up being a bargain though. If it were orange i'd be tempted to make an offer.

I think the car is worth $140k-$150k in its current state, if you look around you can find clean no storied 02's for $170-$180 range. Who knows what the salty air has done to the long term health of the car. People have told me that is one of the problems with hawaii cars. Say you pay $170 its going to cost close to $10k if not more to get it up to snuff, now you have $180+ into a storied car. Not trying to be a party pooper.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking... and not only that, but shifting from first to sixth is not a great for the tranny. And no going over 35 MPH for two years is also not good. 130-150 is where it should be priced.

I am sure it will drive the same, and look 98% perfect with a few grand. I still would like to know if the car has had zero service, or just very little service. Because no service on a 12k mile lamborghini is a very bad idea.

$10 grand? good luck! That won't even cover the new wheels....

Sounds like an unfortunate situation, and the car sounds like it's in bad shape. My guess to move it quickly would be low $100's, probably $120 - 130k (would be generous IMO), for someone to take a gamble on how much work it needs (could be $30 - $60k+ easily).

The way to maximize the value would be to take the time and money to fix it himself, but doesn't sound like that's really an option.
