Most Common ECU tuners and 'Light Mods' for 997.1 TT Tip?
Most Common ECU tuners and 'Light Mods' for 997.1 TT Tip?
My 997.1 TT Tip has 11 months of warranty left so I'm just asking for my own aedification
It sure seems like most of the folks with 997 TT's -- especially 6speeders -- mod their cars in some way? My car has the fabspeed exhaust but is otherwise (as far as I know) stock.
I know asking what the 'best' ECU tune or 'best' mechanical mods are, is a loaded question (and subject to opinion and taste!)
As a starting point I am wondering what are the most COMMON 997.1TT tuners (especially for 'lightly tuned' cars to say 550 bhp or 600 bhp)
1. Most commonly used ECU tuner (or two)?
2. Most common two or three 'bolt on' mechanical mods?
3. Most commonly used suppliers/tuners for those mechanical mods?
4. Finally am wondering the approximate mix of stock / mildly-modded / heavily-modded 997.1TT's out there (am guessing 997.2 is a different mix as many more of those still under warranty).
e.g.,
50% 997.1TT's are bone stock
35% modded to 500bhp to 600bhp
15% modded to 600 bhp+
Thnx for the all the knowledge here folks :-)

Great questions.
This is my job, so of course I am going to be a little biased. However, I would not be here unless I believed in the brands we supported and sold.
So you already have an aftermarket exhaust. Great. You are a stones throw away from 600hp. All you need is some software.
We were were GIAC's very first dealer and continue to sell their brand to this day. It's safe, effective, and offers the true ability to toggle between unique maps.
The turbos on your car are not made by Porsche. They are made by Borg Warner. Each turbo made by them is issued what is called a compressor map. It is basically a blueprint of what can and cannot be done with the turbo. It's public information and as a Borg Warner dealer we have access to it.
So with knowing what the turbo can withstand and using a variety of scan tools, GIAC and AWE Tuning can dyno tune, street tune, track tune these cars for maximum performance without sacrificing longevity.
I ask that you visit our web site and read a little more about what we can offer. Click HERE.
If you would like to pick my brain, shoot me an email and we can connect. I live and breath this stuff.

I broke the ECU/Cat back only record by a mile with a EVOMS/Sharkwerks tune with my 997.1 Tip
I then went with another well known tuner and had so many issues with tuning and customer service that I got fed up and sold the car.
I am now on my second EVOMS/Sharkwerks tune on my 2012 997TT.2 PDK and it is unreal again with ZERO issues.
I will not publicy bash the other tuner but will be glad to speak over PM about my experience.
I have heard good things about Softronics,GIAC,and a few others also.

Now there are VERY few people with different tunes so the comments on "Get this tune" or "get this tune because its good and I sell it" are basing their comments on THEIR tune. They aren't telling you to buy X brand because they tried, FVD, AWE, EVOMS, Etc and they settled on the brand they are talking about because it blew their other tunes out of the water.
Its like me commenting on how much better a 911 is than a 458 when i never drove a 458.

Something that might appeal to you is that we offer three levels of transmission flashes for the tiptronic. Not only will this allow for quicker shifts, but times will be improved by holding timing between shifts.
We also have multiple turbo upgrade files, including one for the AWE 750R package. To this date, a 750R equipped vehicle is the highest recorded number on our Mustang MD-500 dyno. This includes various R8 and Porsche race cars, as well as a few twin turbo R8's.

1. Max effiency %? At which pressure ratio and flow rate...?
2. Max flow rate?
3: Max usable pressure ratio?
Or even better...just copy and paste it here.
I have FVD tune and Speedtech 2.5" catless exhaust. Have been very happy with the tune and it makes good power. Park Place Porsche in Dallas did the tune and exhaust. On a side note, the car is listed in the vehicles for sale section. A very quick car.
However, it may already be on the internet somewhere. I personally have never taken the time to look.
