With all things being equal such as color, interior, options etc.(including value), knowing what you know about your turbos, would anybody choose to go from a 2011 911 S to a 2007 or 2008 911 turbo (which ever is of equal value) just for the added adrenaline that I'm assuming comes with the additional horse power?
It's not about $$$ or status but from a driving perspective if you buy a 911 for street DD/RACE you go turbo or go home.
If you track you go gt3.
carrera's are amazing for handling and are great cars but the reality is in street driving you are most likely to do 70% straight line racing... highway drags etc... you want that power. You just get dissapointed when a cadillac V murders you and you just paid 90K for a car. Atleast with the turbo you get 4wheel stickiness, red light monster and highway machine. I know many girls who drive carrera's but the turbo is where it gets manly.

I think it all depends on what you value or prioritize. Obviously for the same price you're going from a new car you've owned from day 1 to a 5 year old car that may have had 2 or 3 previous owners and be out of warranty so there is some additional risk you're taking regarding the history of the car (aftermarket warranty is a must IMO on a used TT if the factory warranty has lapsed). Plus, the 2011 will have some amenities like bluetooth, iPod, etc that the 07-08 TT will be missing.
with the above in mind there is no comparison in the looks and driving experience between a 2011 S and a 997.1 Turbo. The Turbo has a very aggressive stance and with 480hp, 500 ft-lbs of torque plus all wheel drive you are sitting in a rocket ship from 3K-6K rpm in every single gear (even in 6th!). It is scary fast how quickly you can go from 60 to 100 on the freeway.
IMO if you like to feel "push you in your seat" torque and instant passing power then an 07-08 TT will make you smile from ear to ear every time you start the engine.
Good Luck and let us know what you decide

Turbo all the way. In the 18 months that I had my 2011 Turbo S, I still giggle like a little boy whenever the turbo kicks in and rockets me foward like no other car that I currently own. My other cars are listed below.
And another thing, and I'm not sure about other turbo owners, it feels like everything you are passing is blurred when all that power grabs you and lauches you. It's almost like you are traveling through a space warp, lol. It's both intoxicating and scary at times to be honest, especially if you are driving in the city. You are literally going from 60kph to 120khp in a matter of a second or two.

I would make the switch every time. There is nothing like the feel of a turbo!
@ pattimang - I have to agree with you, my wife preferred the modded Cayman S over the Turbo or my old S4 TT. She says its too much car for her (taken with a grain of salt as she in German and doesn't like beer!)
Just waiting for a WB Cayman TT!

The truth was that I couldn’t decide between the 2 SUV. So I got both!
After 9 months with both cars, I would just get the Cayenne.
Now we use the X5 as Costco car.
