New member - Just introducing myself
I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I am new to the Porsche community, and recently acquired a 997.1TT.
I'm coming from the M5board, and I'm seeing that this is a great resource and tool for owners as well. I look forward to chatting it up with you guys on the forums.
Please go easy on me for any newbie questions! I'll be sure to use the search function first

Welcome to this place. If you want to save some cash, avoid reading any post that talks about modifications... You have been warned.

LOL ok per the aforementioned post, i took one crappy iphone pic. I had to jet out of town but am uploading it anyway.
Hmm.. I just realized i've never uploaded pics to a forum haha. Do I need a photobucket or something of the nature? I cant just upload from my PC?
Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the forum !! What are some details about it ? Where did you get it ? How many miles ? Anything you don't like or love ? I would suggest getting some Euro Side Markers they will dramatically increase the exterior appeal of your already great looking 997.

Thank you guys. Well its a bone stock CPO purchased from Porsche of Beachwood in Ohio. It was a very quick and abrupt decison. My M5 was approaching 80k miles and I had that from 17k miles. Loved that car, its space and capabilities. My wife being an accountant instructed that I dump the M5 and get something else (also benefitting my tax deductions), so I quickly started scanning 997TT's across the country. Given my limited budget, this was the best option.
Clean VIN and Carfax (although I question the reliability of carfax reports at times)
07 997.1 TT
Basalt Black with black interior
Alum Trim
Sport Chrono
31k miles (a little high for my liking but within budget)
Not sure what the option is called for the steering wheel control buttons
The middle ground seats (not sure what they're called) but perforated, etc
I typically would lurk on forums for months before acquiring a vehicle, but this was a sudden and impulse buy - my favorite kind. I have a lot to learn about this car and details.
I'm eager to learn some basic maintenance costs, what to expect as common issues, is it ok to go to an indy shop or will that affect a potential buyer's opinion on the cars maintenance, and lastly reliability. Its my understanding that Porsche is considered relatively 'bulletproof' or 'very reliable' as I've heard. My life with BMW was definitely complicated with ridiculous costs of maintenance and repairs. Everything I've heard thus far for Porsche was...dare I say it - relieving, cost and reliaiblity wise in comparison.
Also, does modding the car with exhausts and such make it more difficult to sell in the future? I usually keep a car 2-4 years and move on.
Whats the typical age demographic for a Turbo?
Cosmetic mods I'm interested in are the side markers mentioned above, and the rear LED tail light conversion. I'm a tad surprised those tail lights are 800 bucks though! Maybe I should be though...
Thanks again and I look forward to conversing and learning everything I can from valuable resources like this forum!
