Anyone know this car?
Hey folks- i'm just starting my 997tt shopping and ran across this one at a dealer in san francisco. Previously the car had a full techart body kit which has since been removed.
My concern is that the car now has every panel wrapped in clear bra where paint meters may not pickup paintwork and the slightest imperfections may be disguised.
Im seriously considering this car and want to be 100% confident in my find before flying to the left coast to pick it up.
Additionally, if anyone has any leads on a clean 07-08 6spd please pm me.

yeah that one just screams 'lots of surprises for the new owner' and not in a good way. could be way out of line but my first thought was avoid it, considering the company selling it also does body and paint.
I would have it PPI by dealer, get DME readouts, top speed and highest rev. All of that good stuffs. Good luck with your search! For that $$, i would get 09 (updated PCM and interior..) and mod yourself!!!! (Most fun part!!)
Good luck!!
Good luck!!
This is my plan. I don't have any issues buying a modded car as long as it's done properly. If the owner is not willing to step forward then that's good enough indication for me to look elsewhere.

If the car is located in San Francisco and it has the EVT700 Turbo package from EVOMS on it....then I'd be willing to bet that Sharkwerks has built the car.
Maybe shoot them a quick email to see if they know the car. They're great peeps.

It was done by Sharkwerks.. In the description where it lays out all the mods done it says a paragraph down from the mod list that Sharkwerks did all the install. So at the very least you know it was done by a top notch shop and could always give them a ring to see what they know about the car itself.
A few thoughts since I bought a 07 GT silver turbo with some mods recently:
- Who do you plan on having work on this car? The wrong dealer might baulk at this setup and give you grief. The right shop could be inspired. CPO is a nice thing to have. Peace of mind. My climate control buttons started losing lamination. CPO is covering it but my car is custom ordered so the part is $4500 instead of the usual $500!!!!! So keep that in mind.
- Do research on the vin. Car fax, dealer that serviced it, Sharkwerks. Anyone who's been in contact with it. I did this and found out GIAC had tuned my car in 06 and im entitled to a fresh tune free!
- I ended up finding the original owner of my car, and the shop that had done the work. Asked questions and got some reassurance.
- When searching, keep in mind the original owner may have had other wheels on it, and may have removed components that sell easily, like body kit, wing, etc. Car has the stock tailpipes. So look for the double Fabspeed ones too in your search.
- I have the same Techart Steering wheel in my car. Turns out, the car originally had the Techart front lip, rear diffuser and skirts. So look for a techart car as well. Those stock wheels look freshly painted. Dealer may have done that. So look for OE look as well.
- I bought mine sight unseen. The dealer did a walk around video with a paint meter and emailed it to me. All the metal panels came back at .5 or so. Do research on the forum for that. Paint thickness. No body shop can replicate paint oem paint thickness.
-PPI is key. DME readout for over revs etc. Maybe a compression leakdown test to see how things look. This will tell you how that extra power has done to the car.
- Make sure it has a clutch done to it. Stock will be toast at that level.
- Naturally any other recalls completed during its life.
- Car fax is ok, but if the person repairs out of pocket or settles with the guilty party, that doesn't show up on the report. First car I almost bought had the entire passenger side painted. Only tiny giveway besides the wheel wells was "airbag reset" at dealer!!! Guy spent 20 grand plus to fix the car, but the only thing he couldn't get done was the airbag light. Think like a detective.
Best of luck!

I just called Sharkwerks, I've sent over the info and they'll get back to me next week with whatever info they've got.
Couldn't agree more unless you know the person who owned it previously and they're general driving habits/history of it being tracked/raced/etc. Read through the entire post on this thread by C4TT, great advice for any P car buyer.
This is crazy to me. I feel like modded 997.1s are very reliable if built right and Sharkwerks is a great shop. If you want to spend .20/$ on mods and not have to deal with a build this is not a bad way to go. Not specific to this car but lots of guys on here have bought modded 997.1 turbos with great success. To me Sharkwerks, Champion, Proto etc are on par with Ruf these days
