Europipe installed

Hi All

Received my Europipe Stage 1 from Stef before new years:

Took the car to sonic motorsports in Mountain View to have it installed yesterday. I'm super **** about how carefully folks work on my car and these guys were just as **** as me and did a very clean job on the install.

First of all, the package of tools, nuts and bolts that Stef includes with the exhaust are excellent. The tech said the tools made the job much easier and the replacement bolts came in handy as a few of the stock bolts came off during removal of the oem exhaust.

After we got the exhaust up and running and I had a 40 mile drive back home from the shop. Here are my initial impressions of the EP1

The exhaust sound is very throaty compared to the stock system, which is exactly what I was looking for. I wouldn't say it is much louder except when you get on the throttle, in fact at idle while it's deeper it is only slightly louder than stock but as soon as you blip the pedal you get a throaty "grrrrrr" which is addictive. The turbo whistle is a first for me, never heard it before with the stock exhaust so it's kind of a fun addition

The best part are the gurgles and pops when you shift out of second and into neutral as you roll to a stop. It's also much deeper and throatier when you start in first and sounds great when you push it through the gears. The turbos come on faster and harder and the power gains are noticeable per my official butt dyno

My only complaint, if you want to call it that, is with the windows up it is not immediately distinguishable from the stock exhaust until you open up the throttle. You can here that there is more bass in the exhaust with the windows rolled up but you have to listen for it. I had the tech drive it up and down the street a few times and it sounds great, you can hear the throaty gurgles as the car zooms by.

Overall Very Happy!

Nice exhaust I had one on my 996tt and was very happy with it.

I drove to Belgium and Stef and his brother fitted mine and gave me a 5 star service!!!

How's the cold start in the morning? Since I got my EP1, all my neighbors know when I leave for work :-)

If you want a little more noise in the cabin, the RSS motor mounts will make the car feel more solid and transmit a bit more noise in

You can turn off the cold-start raspy/loud racket by turning off the key and restarting. Gives EP1 back its great exhaust sound. Wife and a couple neighbors wondered if that was a helicopter picking me up for work mornings.

Thanks Kit. I'll keep that in mind but as for now between the exhaust and incoming wheels/springs I've exhausted my mod budget for the time being (wife is not amused!)

I drove through the caldecott tunnel yesterday and the throaty rumble of the EP1 bellowing through the tunnel was glorious! The characteristics of the exhaust are civilized but aggressive when you want it to be. for example, laying off the throttle in the tunnel and it quiets down, giving it a little gas and the tunnel filled with a thundering growl

Nice! If only I could find out definitively whether the EP1 would make the sound limits at Laguna Seca.

Yup, Akra and Bilsteins going in next weekend followed by a trip to Sharkwerks for the tune. I have known the sonic guys for a long time and they do good work. We should meet up sometime. I will send you a pm after install.
