Exclamation Vbox 0-100kmh & 100-200kmh

Hey Guys, Hope all is well and happy New Year to everyone!

I vboxed my 997.1tt (Tiptronic) yesterday and wasn't so happy with my results:

Very common result (4/5 times)
0-100 : 3.9sec
100-200 : 9.5sec

Not common result (1/5 times)
0-100 : 3.7sec
100-200 : 8.8sec

I wanted to compare my results to a stock 997.1tt vbox timing, does anyone have results to compare, if yes can you please share!

Your feedback & comments are much appreciated!

Note: My car has a few mods on it but stock turbo's and stock ECU

People should be careful with headers and plenums. It's a waste of time and money (and likely performance) most of the time. What octane do you run in there?

I figured something isn't right, any idea how/where to start troubleshooting?

If I'm not mistaken I run 98ron, il have to double check.

Plenum and headers reduce restriction on turbo cars, so how will this negatively affect performance? Can you please elaborate if possible?

Thanks for posting your results, I know I'm .2s off on the 0-100 and a good 1-1.2s off with my 100-200 very odd and frustrating.

I'm planning to tune soon, but I don't wanna tune when I'm not running as fast as a stock TT should..

do a boost leak test also, check ignition after that if nothing comes up, then tune it and run it, safely !

Thank you for the input Fadi! I was considering doing a leak test, however I'm not so sure where to pressure the system? In the 996 it's directly from the turbo's.

Can you recommend a method to leak test the 997 turbo?

Also does the spark plugs have anything to do with ignition times?

Any input will be highly appreciated guys!

Markski has a good and cheap boost tester, check on his site or give him a call, he is always open to help us. I would check sparks and coils, your car has to be in perfect shape before starting to tune it

Well restrictions after the turbos are almost always bad but headers could be to big for your turbos and engine displacement. Maybe all your headers do is slowing exhaust gases down before they hit your VTG's robbing you of spool up and low rev power. Your peak hp could still be the same but you lost "power under the curve" making you slower.

I am sure similar things could be true for the TB/plenum, but smack some large GTx turbos on her and you will prob be happy with your mods

DISCLAIMER: This is pure speculation!

I think it could partly be due to the weather and climate conditions. Most turbocharged cars in my climate also post much slower numbers compared to similar cars in States. I remember my 997tt after a full stage 3 modified VTG package from a reputable german tuner only did 8.5s 100-200.

Thank you for your input. I did think it was weather related however i did two tests, one was in summer (40 degrees Celsius) and one a few days ago (16 degrees Celsius) and still had consistant results.

I will figure a way to boost leak test my car in the next few days and see how it goes.
