TT "spooling"

Just took delivery of my 997 TT. Last TT I drove was a 996. Seem to remember hearing the turbo spooling sounds more in the 996 than I'm hearing in the 997. Both were/are stock. Just my imagination or???

Europipe will definitely do it. I couldn't hear much of it until I got the Europipe installed, now it's quite noticeable and awesome.

^ Agree the EP1 is the best all round solution for this issue......especially if you don't want to get a headache from drone. You'll have great turbo spool, sound and power. The throttle is much crisper and responsive. ....can't imagine how anyone drives this car with the stock system. Such a waste of good driving time.

....well so long as that loud cowbell is ringing on the outside and not ringing your ears is the main thing, and that's a problem in this car. I'm told on good advice EP2 has a drone up to @2600 rpm but isn't as audible, nor does it loiter around over the 2600rpm mark like the greater majority but I think you will still need to possess some level of drone immunity for those times you are trundling around in traffic between 1700 and 3000. Ideal situation would be auditioning a few systems to see where your immunity level sits if you were feeling brave to go super loud.

If you know you don't want annoying drone but want the sound, spool up and crisp throttle with power bump then EP1 is a given quantity. There are a lot of guys here that have them. I personally find the EP1 is ample loud enough on the outside. Everyone can hear me coming, well so they keep tell me...plus i can certainly hear it when I put my foot down. Once you get up it, it definitely gets a bark up.

You'll have to accept you're never going to get the TT to sound like an atmo GT3 or a 9000rpm Ferrari. Maybe just email stef@europipe.be and ask him. He'll give you the full scoop on EP2, and honestly. I personally wouldn't go by any sound clips. That's asking for trouble imo.

As Speed has said before, drone to you may not be drone to me - it really is personal so that's why it's best if possible to hear the exhaust you're considering in person. I have an EP2 on 2008 TT (BTW, I had an EP2 on a 2007 TT also, so you can see I'm a believer) and it drones - but to honest at highway speed the wind noise and the road noise seem to cancel it out or i might just be used to it - it certainly doesn't bother me.

Thanks JH. I'm coming to that realization...try to hear what you're getting in person. May be a "needle in a haystack" approach, but maybe just post on the forum for anyone who's running that setup in my city....maybe even check with my local dealer???

Mr.Al, I was worried about drone too, but I wanted the best sound I could get. I ended up with the GMG WC-GT exhaust. Is has a some noise inside the car around 2600rpm but other than that it is not loud, inside the car, nor does it drone to me. I am very happy with my purchase. The quality and fit is very good, plus the quad tips look great.

Just checked out some exhausts - ouch expensive!!

Anyone have any links and thoughts on a good Titanium cat back? I am thinking about building my own... Shouldn't cost more than $1000 in materials with Grade 2 Ti...
