Insurance Question for those who track in Texas

I know there is track day specific insurance, but it is pretty pricey. Wondering if anyone with "regular" insurance can confirm that their Texas policy does not exclude HPDE/Track events. I have USAA now, and there is a clear exclusion. I used to have State Farm, and there was no exclusion last year -- but I have heard that has changed. I have also heard Travelers does not have an exclusion. I believe insurance varies from state to state so just interested in people with Texas policies. Thanks.

whether it's on an exclusion list or not, if they know you were on a track, they may give you problems. If you're concerned I'd invest in trackday insurance just to be safe. I've done around 20 trackdays taking my chances and I'm nervous everytime.

Last time I was at Eagle's canyon, I saw an advertisement for trackday insurance, I just can't remember who was selling it.

I looked, but couldn't find an exclusion on my Farmer's policy.

Not finding an exclusion does not mean there isn't one and a false sense of security could be just that, false.
I have a buddy that totaled his Cayman R at Sebring and luckily he had track insurance. Unfortunately he hit a stationary wall, something we don't have to many of at MSR or Eagles however there are lots of moving walls, ie cars.

I too have not purchased it but do worry as well as wonder if I should.

that would be my concern...insurance companies can deny your claim whether it's "excluded" or not. I don't have too many worry spots at eagles canyon except the back straight.....and really none at MSR...but if you're worried, better safe then sorry

Thanks all for the replies. I realize an insurance company can try to deny a claim, but if there is not a written exclusion, I am very comfortable that I would prevail if I needed to make a claim. If there is some language about racing, timed events, or just being on a track, I am not as confident, and it would not be worth the risk to me. But if there is simply no language in the policy excluding it, I would be comfortable with the regular insurance.

A related question on tracking. How is ECR on open track days in terms of spacing and level of risk to car? Have never been to that track. My concern is not myself being too aggressive, but someone else plowing into me in a corner, etc.

seems like every track / trackday I've been to is the same, they'll start you off in novice until you prove yourself, then, they'll move you up accordingly....and along with that the passing areas are restricted per group

so in novice they'll only allow passing in a few areas on the track (always a straight never a corner) so you have almost zero chance of someone plowing into you in a corner.
