997 GT2 wheels curb damage - repair!

Hi Guys,

Anyone with experience in wheel repair, plz advise on the possibility of repairing 997 GT2 wheels - black / matte finish. Damage caused by scrapping curb.

I would think Porsche dealer may be able to repair the wheel. Yet got few questions (if can be repaired)!

1. would the repair affect the vehicle's driving, terms of balance/alignment.

2. Understand matte finish is probably the most difficult of paint jobs. Would they be able to match original finish, or would it have gloss of some sort!

Would they re-do/repaint the whole wheel, or just the part in question.

If 100% percent job cannot be guaranteed, then might have to order this rear wheel part, expensive...am told!

Thanks guys in advance for any helpful input.

That's easily repairable, just let the dealer do it, they usually have somebody they like to use.

^ Agreed.
Thats easy to repair and repaint the exact same color. the dealer will more than likely just outsource it to their "preferred" body shop and supply them with the paint code. You should expect to pay no more than $300-400(this price includes a modest 30% porsche). Remember, these wheels are painted, NOT powdercoated.
they'de probably repaint the entire wheel.you would never be able to tell it was there.

Not sure where you are but there is a place on Long Island called wheel fix it on Freeport that did a great job on my sons wheel. He had a run in with a drive thru curb

Turned out great. 24 hour turn around.

^no. stay away.
PORSCHE WHEELS ARE PAINTED. 99.9% of wheel repair shops powdercoat (hence the 24 hour turnaround time, and they usually charge $100/wheel.

if youre looking for an exact match, that wheel has to be painted. youre gonna have to wait a couple of days to get it done right. but you will not be able to tell he difference. trust me. i am beyond obsessive compuslive and fanatical with things like that..
do not ever powdercoat a porsche wheel. ever ever ever, unless youre doing all 4 wheels at once ...

My wheel was painted and clear coated. It came out mint. I would trust them with painting any wheel and repairing it properly.

Over the years I have taken wheels over there that we un repairable and they told me we cannot do this safely. I have also taken wheels there and he said the original finish is faded. We cam match the other wheels or, paint it to factory spec, you decide. I ended up painting all 4.

Thanks "TT Surgeon" and all you guys. Thanx. Porsche dealer confirmed they can handle, to original Porsche standards. As it seem superficial in nature, no bend, etc. Thank god!
