Just bought my first Porsche

Hi guys,
I just bought my first Porsche, a 2012 Turbo (not an S) Cabriolet. Former Drs. car with just 6K miles on it. Black color, black top and black full leather interior.

Other options:
Sport Chrono Package w/ Dynamic Engine Mounts, Bi-Xenon Headlights incl. PDLS, Sport Chrono in Guards Red, Heated and Ventilated Front Seats, Sport Design Steering Wheel, Rear Park Assist, Sirius XM Radio, Seat Belts in Guards Red, Clear Taillights, Colored Crest Center Wheel Caps and Porsche Crests Embossed in Headrests

Picking it up Wednesday after a full frontal Speedfilm application. Cannot wait.

I was going to order in a 2014 Turbo Coupe, and decided the incredible depreciation the first couple years wasn't worth it to me. Got this for almost 1/3 off the sticker. Thinking I'll drive this for a couple years, then look at a preowned 991 Turbo/Turbo S.
Dave

EDIT: Sorry guys, I meant to post this in a new thread, not reply to this one. I'll report this post and see if they can set it up as a separate thread.

Congrats and good call...although I love new cars I've become a huge fan of the 2-3yr old gems where you are at 50-70% of original MSRP. I'm about 1.5yrs into my 2009 997.1 TT 6speed and like was posted earlier - very very addicting.

Post some pix - always cool to see what is out there.

What 2-3 YO turbo cars are you referring that you can get 50-70% off original MSRP?

oh yeah - I see your question now...I did not write 50-70% 'off' - I wrote 50-70% 'of ' MSRP - so I could have worded that better.

Got it. Was thinking I could have searched for a better deal somewhere.

Not sure you will quite see 50% OF MSRP on a 2010 or newer but I see your point. I really like looking for one that also has Porsche Certification.

No problem Walt! There is one thing I have learned from this board and while meeting other Pcar guys - we are a very methodical and thoughtful bunch - if it sounds too good to be true...it is!

My car also has an installed K40 system, either the 360 or 360i system with at least a rear license plate laser diffuser. I own a V1 and a Passport 9500 unit, but this custom installed type is a new system to me, so I called K40 to ask if they would help me even though I am not the original owner, and their CS guy said he would walk me through the entire thing, give me a tutorial, and help me set it up for my location and type of driving. I'm not sure if I have any front laser diffusers on it or not, so maybe add that to the front if there aren't any now.

Nice folks at that place.

Thanks. I have owned a few Corvettes and Vipers, mostly American muscle type cars, and up until now I have only bought new cars, so this is the most expensive car I have purchased. Never thought I'd go over six figures, but what the heck?

Insurance is up about $800 a year vs my last fastmobile, a 2013 Shelby GT500, and I expected that.

I will definitely post some pics after I get it tomorrow.

Well guys, I have a follow up to this thread. This 2012 Turbo I was going to buy had been in a fender bender at a Porsche dealership and had had the passenger side door skin replaced form someone backing into it. I thought that was the extent, but I got ahold of the repair insurance report from my Salesman, and apparently the passenger quarter panel and the passenger door were replaced. The repair was excellent and all, but I decided that was too much for me, so I got out of the deal, and bought a 2104 C2S Cabriolet in Rhodium Silver. I love it. So I will be hanging out in the 991 forum after this post, but here is a quick pic of the Cab.

I think I will drive this a couple years, then look into a preowned 991TT.

Beautiful color -- enjoy! (PS, I think the point of the previous post is captured as "In thrust we trust" -- there really is no substitute for a TT! Make sure you get that 991 Turbo someday.

Very true I just wanted to know if he had driven a turbo because there is no substitute for that power "once you drive one, you drive one"!
