Couple of factory annoyances
Couple of factory annoyances
Just wanted to see if anyone knows of OEM or aftermarket solutions to a couple of annoyances I have. These are pretty knit picky, but I'm sure others will agree with they are quite annoying.
1. The passenger window "safety" feature. I drive with windows down pretty much everywhere. It's quite annoying everytime I park to have to basically hold the window up all the way. I know it will auto up at the 70% mark (around there) but by the time you get there you may as well just hold the bloody the thing the rest of the way. If you're dumb enough to get your head stuck in a car window, you deserve it. Unecessary "feature" in my book.
2. Lock/unlock has no audible tone. I've never owned a car where this wasn't at least optional. I'll often leave my car, get across the street then think, "**** did I lock the car?". If I hit the button to check, I may have just locked it or I may have unlocked it. Who knows.
3. Anyone successfully retrofitted their key into a better blade/chassis? I know guys use to take their chipped key and retrofit them into the Audi switch blades. I personally don't really care about the key, but these things are awkward in your pocket. I've seen one ton dualies with smaller keys.
Again, all pretty minor annoyances and definitely a case of first world problems. I'm just a picky bugger and figured others might be too and have found some solutions.
Cheers gents.

Cheers mate.
EDIT: Just watched the video. While better than nothing, that lock/unlock chirp doesn't exactly scream quality does it.

So.. Maybe the audible lock/unlock aren't as necessary as I thought. Just found this post by someone on Rennlist. Figured I'd share since I didn't realize it worked like this.
The 997 lock system is brilliant. You press it quickly once to either lock or unlock it. One button. If you become absent minded as you are walking away from the car, hit the button again just in case you may have forgotten to lock it. If you do not disturb the car by opening either door the car will automatically LOCK the car as you are walking away and you press the button one too many times and inadvertently unlock the car. It will interpret that as you wanted to lock it but you accidently unlocked it. It will lock it for you, without resorting to beeps and squeaks.

i used durametric pro to program windows to go up/down when using remote to lock/unlock my 07 TT. When locking just hold key longer till windows are all way up, same for unlocking with windows down.- no sound needed- when windows up it's locked.
Also i turned off the seat belt chime. Few other mods on one of the durametric threads.

I've owned over 20 Porsches since my first in 1979 and never knew this. Nice find & Rep to you. I'm always walking back to the car to check if I locked it.

My current annoyance with this car is how the shuffle feature on the pcm 2.1 is the same order every time! At least when playing mp3 from the head unit. First world problems, indeed.
