Thinking about buying a .2 Turbo S
Thinking about buying a .2 Turbo S
Like the title states, I'm thinking about purchasing a 2012 Turbo S to become my only car and daily driver..
I've got a few questions though:
1. What are the differences between the Turbo and Turbo S, other than power.
2. Since I'm not afraid of modding, would it be better for me to get a Turbo and mod it to power levels over a Turbo S?
3. Is there anything I should be careful about when purchasing a used Turbo/S? The car has just under 9k miles on it.
4. Over 20k miles, how much would maintenance probably cost me?
5. How do the PCCB's hold up to aggressive street driving? I don't want to destroy a set of rotors like I do on my current 2012 S4 every 18k miles.
Thanks in advance,
Stephen

1) Aside from HP the Turbo S gets all the technology options (PTV) , engine mounts , cornering lights , paddle shifters , center lock wheels.
2) It's much cheaper to buy a 997.1tt but modding it isn't cheap. Plus you are 6 years late to the 997 Turbo party and that translates into buying expensive parts for an old car .
3) I feel the new PDK unit in the 991 is so good that 997 versions feel dated . I have not driven a 991 turbo S but if i were shopping at the 130K price level (cost of a used Turbo S) I'd want a 991tt S .
3) Maintenance on a stock car primarily focuses on tires and routine wear parts . A modified car requires more care . For example I replaced one clutch on my 700 Hp car and i just replaced the suspension . These are not cheap repairs .
4) I still have under 20K miles so i cant answer.
5) PCCB are great brakes . I had them on a 997S but do not have them on my current Turbo . My 997S had 9K miles on it when i traded it in and I never had any brake related service in the one year I had that car.

I was in your position about 6 months ago when I bought my highly optioned CPO Turbo cab which has all the options of a Turbo S but not the 20 HP which saved me 25/30k. I think I made up for that with my exhaust.

130k euros? I wish , the price is the same but in germanyfor example you pay 190k in euro and in us 190k dollar , which is a big diference because 1euro=1.30 $ , thats why I call U.S cetizins lucky
I thought he was looking at a 997 Turbo S not a 991 Turbo S. His thread title specified a ".2" Turbo S which implies the second generation 997 Turbo .

I suspect the inference was that if you are in the rarified space of considering a 130k used car, you would probably as well get a new 991tts. Not that I think in these terms, but I guess others do. If you have 3,4, or 5 cars, the difference is not insurmountable. The shopper for the 997.1TT is not in this league, but the. 2tts range is a much different space.

130K is a lot to spend to NOT have the the best . A custom order 991tts speced out to 185K or so . It's 50K more and one gets the latest technology, improved PDK, and 4 years of warranty, in a NEW car which also happens to a be faster !!

I love my 997.2 Turbo S, and the PDK in that car is superb. In sport mode it is seamless, perfect shifting. The PDK programming is superb. Any improvement would be minor, whereas the PDK in my Panamera isn't programed as well, more clunky in nature. The 991 Turbo s is an awesome machine, I will likely get one eventually, just want to wait for some production time as I'm sure there will be some kinks with the new changes/rear steering, etc...
