Advice buying 2009 CTS-V

Hey Guys,

Found a nice 2009 CTS-V, 6 speed with 25,000 miles, never driven in winter or rain! Anything in particular to look out for? Was planning to get a 2006-2007 but I think this is a much better car...

Thanks.

I have one. From what I can tell they are pretty reliable with no specific issues to look for. One thing I might suggest is considering if you want to modify it. They are pretty easy to get to 650-700 hp. Even more if you start going beyond boltons. If this you plan to go this route you may want to look for one already done up.

Btw, I've driven the old generation car. It can't hold a candle to the current one.

CTSVOwners is the name of the best forum.

Thanks Loose! It will likely stay very close to stock as my father will be driving it.

I'll check the forum when I get a chance.

Any pictures of yours?

I haven't heard of any pronounced issues with them, I'd think with something that new and lower mileage the basics should cover you.

Johnny, there are a lot of owners on Cadillac Forums, I would suggest checking their boards for info, and asking questions over there.

I have an 07, I love the car, I can definitely say it puts a special kind of smile on your face when you downshift through the gears with that throaty v8 popping sound coming out of your luxury sedan.

I've had mine for 5+ years and love it, but looking at getting in to a new(er) one like the OP early next year. Go for it.

Where are you located? For options you have:
Sunroof
Wood interior
Suade steering wheel and shift ****
Auto trans
Red or yellow calipers
Recaro seats
Nav
Polished or black wheels

It might vary a bit over the years but that's pretty much it. The only must-have option that I was looking for was the Recaros. It is a very expensive option, about $4000.

I bought mine new in '09 and still have it. Best GM vehicle ever made, which is why I still have it. It will be replaced when the new CTS-V comes out eventually. No real issues with any of them, this car has been 100% problem free for over 50,000 miles so far. That is also at 530 rwhp via pulley/airbox/tune. Car does everything well, especially on a road course.

Tony

I'm a big fan of the V. Here's a good link regarding the yearly differences.
