07 997 turbo upgrades

Looking for performance upgrades including larger intercoolers turbos and plenum, used if possible. I already have air intake and exhaust. Thank You Chris

Hi Chris,

Do some quick searching, and you'll find there are a lot of options out there. But the most important question is going to be what your goal is in terms of final power output.

There are some great VTG turbo options out there (like ours) which could give you up to 675-700hp at the wheels on a stock engine, and more on a built engine. There's also milder options using the stock turbos that can yield you up to around 525 or so at the wheels.

You can also get more extreme, build your engine, and get up to 1000 or more HP at the wheels with other turbocharger options

Ultimately it comes down to your budget, your goal for power, how you use the car, and how important your warranty is (if you have one on the car now).

If you have any questions, feel free to give me a call or email any time.

Tom,

With the milder option at 525, is a new clutch or plugs required?

Probably not right away, but the factory clutch will most likely wear faster then normal. So it will also depend a lot on your driving style and how you use the car.

As for plugs, no need to change other then at your regular intervals. And you'd still use the factory recommended plugs.

From an engineering point of view anew clutch will be needed right away even with stock turbos if you flash your car with a good powerful flash producing great amounts of torque...like apr...if you flash your ecu with a mild tune your clutch will last a little more...since torque limit of clutch wont be exceeded...I ve seen 997tt with 3kmiles slipping right after flashing...as for plugs it would be agood idea to swap to one grade colder plugs....otherwise stay with stock but shorten intervals...

Keep in mind that the cooler plugs recommendation varies from tuner to tuner, depending on the software.

With our GIAC flash, we use standard plugs. In fact, we use stock plugs on all our power kits.

Tom,

Just curious....what would happen if someone had cooler plugs with your tuning software?

I would factor a clutch into the equation once you flash and exhaust the car. I needed it. I would run stock plugs on stock turbos for sure, just gap it at what your tuner recommends.
