Twisting air noise, 5th/6th gear pull only?

I don't know how to explain this noise that I have but, a twisting air noise after car reaches full boost. Air noise (turbo air) fluctuates and isn't consistent under boost.

Car still pulls (maybe not as hard but car is in 5th gear) and the dash boost gauge reaches its max pressure. 1st-4th are fine. ECU flashed and Forged recirculation valves have been installed.

I don't think this is normal. Car doesn't throw any codes.

Ideas?

Its not the clutch, I just had it replaced with the ERP triple CF.

Recharging of the turbos before you can boost again? Never maxed mine out, so don't know

I have the Evom580 tune and had the spark plugs changed at the same time. Probably have 4000 miles since the tune. I was thinking a hose also. I know that the dash gauge isn't going to show actual boost with a tune.

Noticed you had aftermarket Diverter valves. While I know you stated only a certain gear is givibg you the issue(s), I would consider those as a possible problem.

There are a few threads about these on here and Rennlist. I also experienced this first hand....Had the Forge DV lock up solid in the semi-open position....Put back OEM's...no issues.

Just a thought.

Good luck.

When your diverters started to fail or seize, was it noticeable in short boost situations? I read some of the threads on the forged ric. Valves but most noted an issue building up boost and could see the issue on the dash meter.

To be honest, I just recall the car was acting strange, and the last addition was the Diverter's, so I just started there and sure enough, one was stuck. I could not even move it by hammering it! What I recall was the car stutterred and did make a strange sound...but who knows? It is just a thought. And an easy Dx..if you have your OEM's, easy enough to swap out and see if it goes away and costs nothing but about 30 minutes of your time....

Good luck!

yes i do have them, not sure if DVs can be the answer, i hear mine starting in 5th at high speeds only ( over 140mph or so), i feel this sound comes more probably from the front of the car, don't know if this is your case

If it is coming from the front of your car, there isn't much up there...fans, radiators, front axle, suspension, brakes...that is about it that could make a noise??

With my issue, this is definitely related to the air within the turbo pipes. To me an open Diverter would make sense given that the car has two turbos and if one was stuck open, it would give a fluctuation of pressure.

Hey DC, Do you have a trick or tool to use on the DV value removal process for the one with the tube in the way?

You have me paranoid now with the seized valve half open (or half closed if your that type.)
