blue smoke video

even though there are a lot of threads about this and also
my mechanic told me that this is absolutly normal, i still feel sad when seeing it.
my car smokes on nearly every startup...sometimes more, sometimes less.
i made a short startup video today and what you will see is a GOOD startup
with what i call "minor" smoking.
sometimes on the left side only and sometimes on both giving me a blue cloud all over the place - especially when parking on a slope.

i just can't get used to it as it makes me feel like there's something broken.
running Castrol 0w-40...not overfilled.
oil consumption is less than i expected on the car.
did 1k miles since oilchange and the indicator shows one mark below full
even though the car is driven hard.

i let her idle 1-2minutes befor shutting down every time, also tried it with a short blip...no matter what i do....she smokes on startup

should i try a different oil? any other suggestions?
some comforting words would be appreciated

cheers,
Luke

thats normal.
you dont need to let it idle for that long.. thats probably why its doing it on every start up.
if youre not driving it hard, you can turn it off right away. if you just finished driving hard, 30 seconds is enough.

That side has some sort of crankcase ventilation I believe. I get the same thing. When I pulled my intake off a few months ago that side has a bit of oil in the IC piping. Seems like some people just have smoky cars and some don't.

Totally normal for mezger engines. Nothing at all you can do, and nothing you should do.

Like others, I have heard this is normal. Since you're looking for opinions based on experiences I will share mine.

I rarely get any smoke during start up. Now mine is not a daily driver for what that's worth. Only putting about 2k miles per year, I typically drive it a few times a month on nice weekends. I always make it a point to drive the car normally for approximately 5-10 minutes before parking to ensure I don't get the smoke during startup. For my car (20k miles) it rarely happens…maybe once or twice a year.

I know you said you let it idle 1-2 minutes before shutting down. If you're not doing this already, try drive at normal speeds (no wide open throttle/spirited driving) for the last 5-10 minutes and see if that has any affect.
