Question How to maintain PDK

Hey,

I wrote a new thread, but it seems like its not there anymore, hmmmm weird, anywaysss

So every time i purchase a car with a funky gear box, i always worry about the nightmare of gear box failure!

So i would like to know what kind of maintenance to be done to prolong the life of PDK gear box. My car has about 24,000km.

Have there been many horror stories with the PDK? Or is it a solid box?

Thanks.

Good question. However, I think the lack of response is partially attributable to the lack of issues with pdk. I'm way too active here and I can tell you I've never read about a failure. Our even a clutch change. If you want issues though, pushing more hp will give you problems. Read the tuning threads. Otherwise, hammer away, launch regularly and have fun! I'm going to!

I see, and good to know

But is there nothing that we need to do to maintan this gear box? Like top up gear oil? Change anything that wears out?

There have been some failures I think at least of 991 units which should be better. P just swaps the old for a new one. Scary though when the warranty is gone!

Maybe, but I haven't heard of any issues with 997.2 s.

I mean there must have been few issues here and there.

But what is it we should do to maintain such a gear box? Has anyone done an oil top up? Oil replacement? Anything of that sort?

You would never top up the oil. I think there is an oil change at 60k miles. I seem to recall something on the recommended maintenance program.

Pdk

I have a 997.2 turbo also. A PDK gearbox does not consume oil. If there is no evidence of leaking then the original factory fill is at the proper level and no need to top up. Change at 60K miles.

PDK is pretty solid. Nothing to do to it for 60,000 miles and then you have the fluid changed. I know PDK cars that race and there is no clutch wear because it shifts so perfectly. I track my car around 6-8 times a year and I tracked my 2009 with PDK a whole lot more and had zero issues.
